RE: Week 18 - Futures F4 (15K) - Bournemouth, UK

Matches got rained off, I'm afraid. At least Coxy's did.

The wins for the four youngsters are very important for lads at their ranking levels, as we know; at a quick glance, it looks as though the three juniors will each rise to the 'century' above - Dan E from 1342 to 1251; Dan S from 1201 to 1162; Marcus from 1150 to 1088. Matt moves very close to top 1000, from 1055 to 1019. All the new rankings are approximate, of course, and, with any luck, will be out of date in a couple of days, anyway!

Great wins by Dan III and Marcus!!
...and I'm sure Evo ground Rodriguez into mental submission and forced a retirement!

Good luck Dan Cox tomorrow.  Make it 3 Dans out of 3.

I can't remember the last time so many Brits outside the top 1000 scored ranking points in one day, let alone a rained off day. As DJ says, those points will make a big difference to their ranking positions. smile.gif Do you see a bit of "if you can do it, so can I" going on here? smile.gif Even Felton did pretty well as an unranked player to take so many games off Matt.

The best thing of all about today's results is that they mean that one of Willis or Evans is going to get to the QFs and pick up at least 3 points! biggrin

I assume all matches in italics below have been held over until tomorrow.

L32: Edward Seator WR 504 v (Q) Daniel Cox WR 939 - winner to play winner of:
L32: (7) James Ward WR 488 v (Q) Guillem Closa-Puncernau (ESP) WR 1487 - (1) Conor Niland (IRL) WR 329 heads this quarter
L32: (WC) James Feaver WR 1017 lost to (3) Marek Semjan (SVK) WR 405 by 2 & 4 cry (Semjan plays Paire in R2)
L32: (Q) Joshua Milton WR 1256 v (WC) Morgan Phillips WR 1487
L32: Ken Skupski WR 637 v (8) Ludovic Walter (FRA) WR 500
L32: (Q) Matthew Illingworth WR 1055 beat (Q) Alistair Felton UNR by 5 & 3 smilecry
L32: Miles Kasiri WR 512 v Petar Popovic (FRA) WR 573
L32: (Q) Sean Thornley WR 1259 v (4) Diego Alvarez (ARG) WR 400

Great results from our guys so far. A real shame that Felton comes away with nothing after his great qualifying run, I've said it before and I'll say it again, futures qualifiers really should get a point.

Well, sometimes they should. There are certain qualifying competitions at 10K level where perhaps they shouldn't.....

The rest of the R1 matches are 1st on court at 10 am tomorrow and the R2 matches are 4th on court, so some of those playing doubles (5th on court) as well could end up having to play three full matches tomorrow!

I noticed on the OoP for Wednesday that there was an either/or pairing in one of the doubles matches, which implies that one of the R1 matches was in progress at the time they posted it, hence I reckon your guess that they moved the doubles indoors is a good one! smile.gif

I see Morgan conceded a walkover in the doubles. Perhaps Rodriguez got self-conscious about his name and refused to go on court?

More likely it's because Rodriguez got injured in his singles match, which he reitred from.
