That's a great result for Neil - the Bam Bam or Bust train clearly has a bit of steam left in it!
QF: Neil Bamford WR 827 v Victor Romero (MEX) WR 627
Less than a year ago, Romero was ranked in the top 400, so he has slid quite a bit since then. He has won 7/8 of his matches against Brits this century (the only loss was when he got bagelled in the 3rd by Mark Hilton in 2004), the most telling win being his comprehensive 4 & 2 defeat of James Ward in February this year, so it's hard to imagine Bammy being able to take this one.

good to see Bamford getting some wins.....still feel that his future in tennis does lie solely in doubles even though that's tougher to make a living in.......2 years ago he had a great partnership with Jim May, they qualified for wimbledon and won a lot of futures.....made top 300 but really needed to move up to challengers to get higher, which they were capable of doing....strange that didn't continue....I think Neil may have got injured though
seeing likes of hutchins and auckland make top 100 in doubles must have given guys like bamford belief they can do it.....he's great to watch in singles, great timing, all-court game, classy backhand.....does lack a big serve/major weapon though
