FQR: (q6) Chris Eaton WR 694 lost to Evgeniy Kirillov (RUS) WR 382 by 5-7 6-4 6-3
L32: Alex Bogdanovic WR 258 v (Q) Karlis Lejnieks (LAT) WR 779
Chris did well to take the 1st set, but unfortunately it makes no difference in the end if you can't win another one. He is only third in line for a LL place behind Bubka and Norby.
Lejnieks reached the Final of the Melilla Future last week and has beaten Andrew Kennaugh a couple of times in the last year (the second in two tight tiebreaks), but this is a player who lost to Adam Barratclough and Ross Connolly a couple of years ago (admittedly when he was only 18) and has a career high of 775 - Boggo would have to suffer a catastrophic meltdown not to win this one, so hopefully he will win it and pick up some confidence for the crunch match in R2.

I wonder if LL places should be awarded according to the ranking of the winner. I.e. because Chris lost to the highest ranked player, he should be first in line and so on and so on!
Although on some levels that system would work Johnny there are certain circumstances that would render it a little unjust; e.g if the top seed defeated his opponent 6-0 6-0 whilst the second seed struggled in three close sets but just about pulled through, who's more deserving in this cicumstance? This would be particularily difficult if the top two seeds were ranked within close proximity of eachother.
phew, i would have hoped for a better 2nd set, but maybe Al just took his foot of the gas in the 2nd, dont want to push it unnesecarily, i know he only arrived in Lanz quite late sunday.

L16: Alex Bogdanovic WR 255 v (2) Gilles Muller (LUX) WR 125
Former top 60 player Muller once beat Andre Agassi in straight sets and knocked Duckboy out of the 2005 USO, also in straights, though Brits may best remember him for coming back from 2 sets to 1 down to beat Arvind Parmar in an agonising DC rubber in 2004. More recently, Muller won the Humacao Challenger earlier this month.
Muller beat Boggo 6-4 3-6 6-4 in Queen's qualifying in 2004 and 6-7(3) 6-2 6-4 in the Cordoba Challenger in 2005, the year when the Luxemburger was close to his career high of 59, but Boggo beat him 7-6(6) 6-4 in the Grenoble Challenger last September, so Muller leads the H2H 2-1, but sets are 4-4 and Boggo won their most recent encounter, so hopefully all is not lost here!
If Boggo wins this match on Wednesday, he will stay ahead of Josh for at least another week.

I don't know if it's any sign of good, but Muller had some troubles against a useless Mikki (who lost doubles to Nesterov; time to retire). All what Boggo needs is to not choke away his chances.
Thans for the glimmer of hope, Nathii (the extra glimmer of hope, in fact, given that he beat Muller last year) - some people would say that all Boggo EVER needs to do is not to choke!

At least he won a match this week and got some ranking points back, so it's been a better week than it has been for a while for Boggo (lets ignore his opponent for a moment)
He can easily beat Muller if he plays well, but who knows whether he's going to do that or not but hopefully he should have some confidence after that first round win to go and follow it up
