Week 18 - Challenger - $50k+H equiv. - Lanzarote, Spain

It looks like Josh might have got into the main draw here after all if he had wanted to, because qualifying is half-empty and the no. 1 Q seed is ranked 382, with the top 4 Q seeds going down to 582 and the 8th seed ranked just 1572. A golden opportunity missed for a a few of 300-500 range Brits here, I feel cry

QR2: Jamie Douglas Coshan UNR v (q7) Karlis Lejnieks (LAT) WR 779

Unfortunately, Chris is in the same section as no. 1 seed Kirillov WR 382, the only player in qualifying ranked inside the top 550.

Boggo is a DA here and after a lot of withdrawals, Bloomers was 6th Alt at the last count. The fact that the top seed in the qualifying draw is ranked 382 suggests that Richard may have made it into the main draw, but that would have required a lot of last minute withdrawals, on top of a high number of withdrawals already. I guess we'll just have to wait and see unless anyone has some inside info ...

I think Slabba has made the cut as well, not sure about Josh though.

That would be good. Have you got a source for this? (I haven't even seen him on an Alt list anywhere)

Surprised it's just Boggo here, but hopefully this can be the week where he finds his form and wins some matches, and has been given a good start with his opening draw (although will surely get Kirilov as that is his luck), so we should be looking at 6 points which will at least be better than nothing.

Good luck to Eaton to try and qualify here and good to see him giving a challenger a try

Eaton was first up this morning. Hopefully he makes it to the match with Kirillov.

Definitely a huge missed opportunity for the mid-ranked Brits. I wonder why Bloomers didn't even play qualifying, he'd probably have qualified easily.

QR1: Jamie Douglas Coshan UNR lost to (q7) Karlis Lejnieks (LAT) WR 779 by 0 & 0 cry

Those were two of the four double bagels in 8 matches!

FQR: (q6) Chris Eaton WR 694 v Evgeniy Kirillov (RUS) WR 382

Good win for Eaton, although I'd expect his opponent was probably just a local player by the looks of things.

Guess he'll be playing doubles with someone this week as well, and hopefully he can get past Kirilov although it will be a tough match for him

He only arrived home Friday and couldn't arrange a flight.

Ah, that makes sense. It's always all too easy to forget about the complex logistics involved!

Eaton teams up with Kirillov in the doubles, they play Stephane Bohli and Bjorn Phau in R1.

Silly me, I didn't realise the fact the doubles draw was out meant the qualies would be finished.

Chris lost 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. In the main draw Boggo plays Karlis Lejnieks.
