A minor consolation is that I think it is the first set won by a British woman in a WTA Tour event on clay for over a decade - hope it is not another decade before someone wins 2!
Katie's current ranking is a career high (115) and also the highest since Louise Latimer in 2001. However Katie will probably drop a few places after this loss as a result of some points coming off and other players round her ranking having good opportunities to add points in a week with lots of high value tournaments.
What a wasted opportunity there. She had the match well in her grasp and 15 points were on offer. You have to take these matches and really go for it. At 1 set all did katie just give up, deflated at losing that second set? Real shame that one.
