This will be a massive, massive week for Willis in his quest to become the world number 1 (well... I have no idea if he intends to, but given how many big tournaments he'll play in the next two or three months, there's no harm in trying) given how many points are on offer.
Direct entrants -
Marcus Willis Daniel Evans Niall Angus Daniel Cox Daniel Smethurst
Johanna Konta Jade Curtis

Michael Thompson Neil Pauffley Mathew James Thomas Knights Michael Davis Matthew Short Ashley Watling
I think I was really wrong in saying that she shouldn't be playing the big tournaments. The way she always manages to shock us every few months by becoming twice the player that she formerly was, I won't be too surprised if she entered the top 20 later this year, which would enable her to play four extra tournaments.

Not a very bad draw for Robson, really. Of course... it could have been better, but Chernyakova is the mascot for all overranked players in this world in my opinion. She gets a good win once in a while but she plays loads of weak tourneys and has been stuck in the top 30 ever since I've been following Junior tennis (that may be a slight exagerration!). Anyway, rule 1 of Junior tennis is that if you're female and playing ITFs regularly in your 18th year, you probabaly have no future in the game.
Chernyakova has lost to Rompies and Ormachaea this year and Laura beat them both last week. She also got doubles bagelled by Babos, I see. Babos is a class player for sure but you should never ever lose that badly to anyone ranked below you. She could have been injured for that, though.
Gah! Konta had to retire from her match. She was losing 26 11. Hope it's not a serious injury but it's a big blow to her rankings quest given how many points were on offer this week and she's a better player than the second seed (who anchors her half).

Coxy plays Evgeny Donskoy of Russia, ranked 53. Willis plays Alessandro Giannessi of Italy, ranked 64. Angus plays Lazare Kukhalashvili of Georgia, ranked 274.
La Robson plays Nicole Riner of Switzerland, ranked 399.
Laura's opponent is quite good a player, actually. She's ranked so low because she has played just one tournament in the last year but is ranked 427 in WTA. She has won a round at two 25Ks this year and won two 10Ks last year, so she's at least twice the player that Laura beat in the first round.
