Monte Carlo Pickem Competition

Hi guys, it's that time again.

The entry form is up and running at: http://www.britishtennis.net/competitions.html

The entry deadline...well it's a bit complicated. It's explained on the entry form and I'll explain again here.

Entry deadline is 09:00 GMT. That's 10am UK time. 11am CET on Sunday 20th April (2008). ie tomorrow morning.

This is quite so early becuase there are going to be quite a few main draw matches played tomorrow. BEFORE the qulifying tournament has finished. So everyone has to pick matches with qualifiers 'blind'.

However, we want everyone to have as long as possible to make their picks so two 'extras' have been added to the entry deadline.

1) we will accept any entry arriving in my inbox before the end of the first game in the first main draw match.

2) we will accept any entry that arrives in my inbox before 15:00 GMT (4pm UK time. 5pm CET) OR before all qualifying matches are finished. whichever comes FIRST. However, in this case, any main draw matches that have already started will receive no points.

I hope that's clear. Any questions either post here or just get your entry in before 11am(BST) tomorrow morning!!

Would be great to see loads of us taking part in this, I realise I'm biased but it really is great fun, and adds interest to even the dullest of tennis matches smile.gif

'Dullest' being the operative word, since we are now in the clay court season ... smile.gif

Oops - don't worry, you're not the only one and Rome is only two weeks away.

Don't look now (without sitting down first!), but after 11 matches, Johnnylad is in the outright lead on 9/11! The Hoose, Bethan, goldfish and Dusty Dick are in 7= on 7/11 too and BT.net are just 0.01 behind MTF in the teams comp.

And the place to not look at is the link in the first post, www.britishtennis.net/competitions.html

Just so you don't go there by accident wink.gif

BT.net finished 4th/7 in the teams comp, behind Centre Court, Rusedski.co.uk and MTF, but ahead of the Feddies. T4Y and AM.com. That means you go up 1 to 4th in the overall team rankings for 2008.

Individually, Linda of AM.com was the winner, while the top BTs were Dusty Dick in 4th, goldfish in 5th (both just ahead of me in 7=), wolf in 12th and MJD in 19th. sheddie in 33rd got revenge over the Count in 90th for his humiliation in Miami!

In the overall rankings, sheddie slips 3 places to 5th (he was 7th in the MC pick 'em last year), but goldfish rises 6 places to replace him in 2nd after her top 5 finish in MC mentioned above.

For full results and rankings, see http://www.britishtennis.net/competitions.html - only a week until the next one, Rome AMS.

After RG and Wimbledon I hope to hugely improve my overall ranking.

I'm gonna think about my picks from now on as well, as I always take around 30 seconds to fill in the whoel draw and ignore the qualifiers.

WE'll see which appraoch is more successful

Yes, thanks again folks. All the stats that go with the competition now are brilliant, Steven. So much work for you and Bethan but all very much appreciated.

Pleased with my result this time after some rubbish earlier in the year. My only problem was taking too much notice of Davydonkey's retirement in Estoril and listening to his comments about being mentally tired after his recent successes. Thought he'd fade much more quickly. Having said that - there's a fair amount of luck involved so my pins just happened to fall in the right place for once.
