Sometimes they add to the pdf draw the reason for retirements...I have checked it out and nothing is noted. We will find out in time.

We'll also get some idea of whether it was serious or not by whethert he recovered in time to play the doulbes Final yesterday - they haven't posted results yet.

According to the ITF site, Bamfs & Goody won by retirement! disbelief.gif  winner.gif

0-0 ret. First time I've seen that. I presume they will get the winners points of 18 then and not just the 12 for making the final which is all they would have got had it been a w/o I think????

i think even a w/o final still counts as win.

its odd though that they allowed josh to compete in the final having pulled out of the singles?

Welcome from me too, Jill. Stay here for a little while and you'll be amazed how much obscure stuff you suddenly realise you know about GB tennis. wink (I'm not sure if that's a good thing, but we'll skate over that!)

FQR: (q3) Neil Bamford WR 824 lost to Rodolfo Jauregui Sainz de Rozas (MEX) UNR by 4-1 ret. tanktank

I've noticed the age of the guy who Bamford alledgedly tanked against.

The superbly named Rodolfo AUREGUI SAINZ DE ROZAS is only 14! Maybe that's why Bamfs retired at 4-1 down - thought it was less embarrassing than losing to a 14 year old. idea

Interesting - maybe he's a really good 14-year-old and that's why he was soing better than his ranking suggested he would. I've also been thinking that if the ITF events now assign LL places at random, it wouldn't have been safe to tank anyway.
