QR1: (q3) Neil Bamford WR 821 v Miguel Millan (MEX) UNR
QR1: (q5) Kyle Brassington WR 1235 v Byron Weinberg (CAN) UNR
QR1: (q6) Jonathan Kinsella WR 1479 v Javier Herrera-Eguiluz (MEX) UNR
QR1: Christopher Hartfield UNR v Ernesto Leon Maya Serna (MEX) UNR

More great tournament picking by courtcrazy and his boys - the good news here is that only six of the players in qualifying are ranked and there are only two qualifying rounds, so each of the Brits can make the draw without facing a ranked opponent! smile.gif

Surprising and bad loss there for Kyle, unless he's managed to find the sole good unranked Mexican in the draw and just got seriously unlucky.

Hopefully the other 3 will all qualify and continue the success we've been having in Mexico

Perhaps it was that Kyle met the only other non-mexican in the draw. Byron Weinberg doesn't sound like he's descended form the aztecs.

Could be an importqant week for Kinsella and Josh this!

I was wondering whether Kyle might have got the ringer in the draw too, but Weinberg (who is paired with Harfield in the doubles) lost to an unranked Japanese player in straight sets in the FQR. ashamed Hopefully just a one-off blip from Kyle though.

FQR: (q3) Neil Bamford WR 821 v Rodolfo Jauregui Sainz de Rozas (MEX) UNR - didn't get on court on Sunday
FQR: (q6) Jonathan Kinsella WR 1479 beat Guillermo Castaneda-Rosales (MEX) UNR by 3 & 0 smile.gif
FQR: Christopher Harfield UNR lost to Raul-Isaias Rosas-Zarur (MEX) UNR by 2 & 5 cry

Bam Bam's FQR match has been held over to Monday - was it raining everywhere today?! Looking at the main draw, he may fancy losing it and hoping for a LL place to come up! cry

L32: (1) Josh Goodall WR 303 v Juan-Manuel Elizondo (MEX) WR 767
L32: (Q) Jonathan Kinsella WR 1479 v (7) R Borvanov (MDA) WR 402
L32: (Q) Bamford or Jauregui Sainz de Rosas (MEX) v (4) Carsten Ball (AUS) WR 336

So Josh is the number 1 seed. Hope he can follow up last week's run with the title. Would be typical if he were to lose this one though after last week lol

He wasn't on the OOP yesterday as he was playing the doubles final in the challenger.

Bam Bam gets a well-deserved early nomination for the tank tank of the year award - with an opportunity that even I (not one to condone tanking in general) might have found irresistible!

With no ranking points at stake in Futures qualifying (another reason why that's a mistake, in my opinion) and knowing, I assume, that Amir Weintraub was likely to withdraw, he lost his FQR match to the Mexican with the long name, this ensuring him an LL slot in the no. 3 seed position and a match against Gallardo-Valles (still quite tough, admittedly), leaving the unwitting (?) Jauregui Sainz de Rozas to face no. 4 seed and renowned Brit-terminator Carsten Ball. biggrin

Edit: the qualifying scores weren't up before - now I find that Mr "ooo ow, I'll have to give up but I just might be ok to play tomorrow if a lucky loser place just happens to come up" wink lost 4-1 ret., so he wasn't even slightly subtle about it! evileye

Sadly, the news isn't all good - Jonny Kinsella lost his R1 match so goes away pointless. cry However, he took a top 400 player to a tiebreak smile and then teamed up with Kyle to win their doubles match 4 & 1 smile which is a bit of consolation.

FQR: (q3) Neil Bamford WR 824 lost to Rodolfo Jauregui Sainz de Rozas (MEX) UNR by 4-1 ret. tanktank

L32: (1) Josh Goodall WR 269 v Juan-Manuel Elizondo (MEX) WR 767 - Tuesday
L32: (LL) Neil Bamford WR 824 v Miguel Gallardo-Valles (MEX) WR 596 - Tuesday
L32: (Q) Jonathan Kinsella WR 1477 lost to (7) R Borvanov (MDA) WR 387 by 7-6(2) 6-2 cry

That's ridiculous - if he's thrown it, I hope he loses in the first round. If he's too scared to play Carsten Ball, perhaps he shouldn't be bothering at all. This isn't exactly setting a great example for British tennis.

If he hasn't thrown it, and genuinely had a one-day injury, then I apologise.

I fear the ITF needs to have another look at its rules - this doesn't strike me as fair on the next in line to be lucky loser; and this sort of thing is potentially damaging for the integrity and image of the sport.
