Thanks.

As last year I will do match reports, press conferences and a blog.

Any suggestions on anything I could do differently then please let me know.

I was thinking of asking the LTA if 'we' could have access to player(s) for interviews but I dont know if it is upto them.

Any suggestions then please PM me.

I thini it sounds like a tough thing to try for too, but maybe if you ask to interview the players who aren't called Murray you'll have some luck - the press probably don't ask for private interviews with the lower-ranked members of the team.

RE: Davis Cup - World Group playoff draw GB v Austria

As many of you probably know, AM.com take a block of seats at the DC ties so that lots of their members can enjoy the tie together and thanks to Andy's influence, they get excellent seats and a slightly reduced group ticket price.

For the Austria tie, they have a bigger block than they had for the Croatia tie last year and there are apparently three 3-day tickets left before the block is filled, so Sally on AM.com was wondering if any BT.net members might be interested in joining them. As she says, the tickets are at the back of their block, i.e. close to normal fans not wearing am.com t-shirts, so you could avoid saying you were with them and post suitably aggrieved comments about being sold tickets next to such a raucous rabble! wink

The cost for a 3-day ticket in their block is £ 72, quite a bit less than you would normally pay for seats that close to the front and you would be in the courtside block that is roughly marked out in red on the right-hand side of the pic below in the next post.

Sally needs to know if you are interested by Monday, i.e. 4 August. If you are, then if you are a member on AM.com, it is probably best to pm her there, where she is known as Sallydaisy, or you can pm her here, where she is simply Daisy. (she would have posted this herself, but didn't want to be thought of as a spammer, though why she would have been is beyond me!)

Any idea about when the teams will be announced? It's just 7 weeks away now.

Boggo has sort of guaranteed himself a place now but the other berth is wide open with our 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th ranked players separated by just 54 places. And then there are Hutchins and Eaton.

Koubek hasn't played since March. Anyone know when he could be back? He has a poor record on grass, for that matter, with his last win on that surface coming against serve and volley specialist Jose Acasuso back in 2004.

In case he doesn't make it, I think they'll choose Peya as their number 2.

I think Boggo, Andy, and Jamie are certainties for the team... the 4th spot is wide open though.

Don't think Hutchins will get it, as I think we need 3 singles players for this tie in case of a injury/Boggo isn't trusted in a 5th rubber, so it will probably go to Goodall/Slabba, seeing as they are the highest ranked players (although Lloyd likes Baker's attitude, on grass he's not the man to pick, and Eaton could be bandwagoned by the press into the squad)

For Austria, Melzer, Knowle and Peya are certainties, and Koubek won't play as even if he does get fit, they won't play him in a Davis Cup match on his least favourite surface. 4th spot could go to anyone, but I'd say Fischer based on his grass court results this year (although Crazy Dani would be interesting)
