clap.gif I love it when someone backs up a great win with a second win, well done Chris biggrin.gif

Also nice to see Alex winning again, hopefully he can go all the way this week. Where are the Brits seeded to meet? Semis or final?

I do love your confidence, Bethan!

Incidentally, the results so far should see three career highs for the boys - 365 (singles) and 693 (doubles) for Alex, and 449 (doubles) for Chris, all approximate, of course, and not appearing in the charts till Monday 27th. Just think how much further they'd jump with another win or two!

And it gets worse:  the pair of them lost to Arsenov & Donskoy in the doubles, 6-7(4) 2-6.  I sincerely hope this set of results doesn't end up being the first in a series that counter-balances all the good ones we had yesterday...! pray.gif

Flippin' 'eck! And they were going so well. cry It was always going to be tough for Chris but he put up a fight there. And Slabba went down in three well-contested sets but... one winner into the SF would have been nice. Pity about the doubles, too, Arse & Don were ranked slightly higher. I'm pray.gif too Stircrazy. wink

Me too, though it was always going to be a bit tougher today. I'm not too disappointed with Chris's result - he's had a good week and clearly wasn't outclassed by Kirillov, but I really was expecting Slabba to win, and would have even more so after he won the first set 6-2!

If Bloomers doesn't get any points next week, we could end up with Baker having overtaken Boggo this week despite being ill and Slabba overtaking Bloomers next week despite losing a match he should have won! ashamed

is it me or does Slabba seem to get into an unusually large number of tie-breaks?

.... and is it me or does he seem to lose a majority of them?

A very quick count (so may be slightly inaccurate) gives the following stas fo Slabba in 1008:

18 tiebreaks in 70 sets (not particularly high, I don't think)
won 9 lost 9 of those tiebreaks (though there have been slightly more losses than wins in the last few weeks)

... and that's why I voted for you in the 'Posters of the Year' competition, Bethan! Very funny - I was toying with all sorts of different cracks re Steven's slip, but am very glad I didn't use them, as yours is much more subtle - the definitive version, one might say.
