Unfprtunate there as it was a good chance but still its a few points picked up because everywin at challenger level is important.

still now sign of Louk anywhere, would have thought with his big serve and game grass would be great for him?

Yes, I thought we would see him in Halle because of his German connections.

Anyway, it is possible he is skipping the grass. He is due to play a Challenger in Romania or Italy in the first week of Wimbly.

Conor withdrew. I guess it's just that he is tired after his trip to the US.

A round up of recent Irish men's tennis, with the focus on Cono - http://www.independent.ie/sport/other-sports/tennis-sampras-practice-a-dream-1404979.html

So now we know why O'Brien isn't doing Futures! Can't be helped as he needs the money - don't think the Irish Tennis federation is very rich, is it?

Louk is still in the qualies draw, so it appears that he will have a go. smile.gif Cono is 7 places away from getting in.

Good to see Louk playing he could easily qualify with his big game and good to see Conor play isntead of taking what would be simple points in the Ireland future

DC time.

Friday

R1 - C. NILAND (IRL) v A. SMIRNOV (UKR)
R2 - C. O'BRIEN (IRL) v S. STAKHOVSKY (UKR)

Saturday

R3 - J. CLUSKEY / C. O'BRIEN (IRL) v S. BUBKA / S. STAKHOVSKY (UKR)

Sunday

R4 - C. NILAND (IRL) v S. STAKHOVSKY (UKR)
R5 - C. O'BRIEN (IRL) v A. SMIRNOV (UKR)

So Sorensen is injured (can't see him dropped). cry.gif

Not much chance of winning this now unless they win the doubles somehow. Niland will beat Smirnov unless he has an off day and O'Brien can beat him, too. But both will need to play the match of their life to hurt Stakh, something Sorensen would have had a good shot at.

Ye they really have to win the doubles now and hope Niland or Obrien can squeeze a victory from somewhere.
