Josh is up to 286 on my live rankings table: He's withing sight of overtaking Boggo!

I've added him to the bottom of the table on that thread.

From the Casablanca site

In the following round, Smeets will play the British player Joshua Goodall, who for his part came out on top with some difficult against the Indian Prakash Amritraj by the score of 6-7(4) 6-4 6-3 in more than two hours of play.

In the first set, both of them won all of their service games and so ended up in a tiebreak where the Indian took advantage of a slight lapse from Goodall to end up with a slight advantage.

In the second, which lasted 36 minutes, Goodall suffered a break in the fourth game and it looked like the world was falling down around him, nevertheless he rebroke in the next game, made it 3-3 and broke again in the seventh to get on top and level the score.

Finally, in the third, Goodall put his foot on the accelerator and broke serve in the third, fifth and ninth games, whereas Amritraj, who fought to the very end, could only manage to break in the sixth.

Good to see Josh doing well at a higher level, good to see. He should be well inside the top 200.

It'll be a while before we know whom he'll face in the SF:  Olejniczak (POL/6) has only just beaten Santiago González (4 & 3) to reach the QF, so it'll between him & the Mexican third seed, Bruno Echagaray! ashamed

Well done Josh. Someone who qualified for both Wimbledon and the USO in the same year obviously has talent. Taken a while to get going and some pretty poor results this year but way to go for Mr Goodall !

Brilliant, when Josh gets on a roll, he really gets on a roll!

He has now scored more ranking points so far this year than any Brit other than Andy and should be only about 10 places behind Boggo on Monday.

Got that a bit wrong! redface.gif  George Bastl has beaten Travis Rettenmaier 4 & 3, so Echagaray & Olejniczak should be in play even as I type...

nana.gif  That "said", came back on here to report that the Echagaray/Olejniczak encounter has already been settled:

Dawid OLEJNICZAK (POL) beat Bruno ECHAGARAY (MEX) 6-4 ret.

Olejniczak it is.  Time for steven to produce his usual impeccable stats...! wink
