According to ATP Richard had a case of 'Montezuma's revenge'
Wikipedia It is estimated that 40% of foreign traveller vacations in Mexico are disrupted by infection
While many gastrointestinal illnesses fall under the umbrella term "Montezuma's Revenge", approximately 80% of cases are caused by bacterial infection. The most common organisms are enterotoxigenicEscherichia coli, Shigella, and Campylobacter jejuni. It is likely that residents have developed a tolerance to these organisms, but they cause sickness in visitors who consume the same food or liquids.
Symptoms range from mild to severe and may include:
Extremely watery or purely watery diarrhea with nausea constitutes gastroenteritis; frequent diarrhea with straining (tenesmus) and abdominal pain constitutes dysentery.

Also known as "Delhi belly" & the "Cairo quickstep", but given the location, I guess "Montezuma's revenge" is the most appropriate...! Oh dear, sorry to hear that - & what a time to get it. Not very pleasant. Hope he gets better soon!

Oddly, the tournament site gives a different reason:
"En la parte alta del draw, los mexicanos Víctor Romero y Antonio Ruiz se clasificaron a las semifinales luego que ganaron sin jugar a los británicos Richard Blomm y Ken Skupski, quienes no se presentaron debido a una lesión del primero en la ingle derecha."
... won without having to play the Brits Richard Blomm (they've clearly got el Conto Zero working for them! ) and Ken Skupski, who didn't show up due to a right groin injury for the former.
Unfortunately, that sounds more worrying long-term than the other version.

Well done Josh. Slowly but surely getting some points back on the board. If he and Neil can move on in doubles as well, this could be a very good week for him indeed.
QF: Josh Goodall WR 303 v (2) Robert Smeets (AUS) WR 162
The Aussie's win against Bloomers in R1 was his 10th consecutive win against a Brit, including two against Boggo, dating back to when Boggo beat him twice last April - a big change from two years ago when he was losing 2 & 1 to Slabba in an Aussie Future! This will be the first time Josh has played him and it might be a bridge too far for him this week, but he is proving the doubters of the last few weeks wrong - he has actually racked up almost as many points as Boggo & Baker so far this year! (*)
(*) In the latest post on the top 25 thread, I have extracted the figures for how many points each player has scored so far this year from the top 25 table and worked out where our top 10 (plus anyone else who has already scored more than 5 points this year) would end up in the overall rankings if they continue to score at the same rate for the rest of the year.
