That's great to watch, such fluent shots.

Is anyone else thinking that only a Brit could play like that and lose the match though?

It shows that if Anne can get a bit tougher on the big points, she could be a top 100 player easily. smile.gif

What I found really encouraging about that match is that Anne seems to have a greater variety to her game than players like Koryttseva who seem content to slug it out from the back, sure she's no Justine Henin, but she has more than just a plan a.

From what I can remember about this match, Anne lost because she was too eager, she tried to win the point too soon, and sometimes didn't do the basics well enough. Koryttseva rarely hit outright winners, she either waited for Anne to mess up or messed up herself, plus she had little variation in her game...yet she won so...

Yeah Anne was just too patchy in that match and lost it a bit mentally. However, Kottryseva played very well too. It wasn't just down to Anne's errors and brainfarts.

Very true, Koryttseva struck the ball consistently deep and was a quick about the court, I only saw the first set where she was more error prone, so I'm guessing she upped her game in the second.

I'm just raging that Anne didn't push on from that run in Seoul...ah well, no point in obsessing about the past.

She's definatly playing at a higher level now than of 12 months ago, though.
