If it's a competition, I'll have to remember to post the Q results before doing the main draw - the whole lot took about 10-15 minutes. Bit it's not a competition, is it?! LOL
No its not a competition...thanks to both again for the results.
Was hoping tim patient could win ! Maybe nxt time.
Lots of byes in the dubs odds on for a rematch of last week
Not too surprised that O'Brien qualified as he looked excellent when he was practising and other than a couple of poor games against Steele he dominated that match completely. He's got a lovely game and plays a very similar game to Skupski.
The crazy pole though was the other player who looked really impressive and he's a nice guy so its disappointing to see him not qualify.
Poor loss from Hewitt but I guess he may have known that he had a LL spot because the seeds above him had all won their matches and so threw away the second set (hopefully that explains the second set) as Kosler didn't look all that good.
Kinsella did well to qualify as well and with his big serve he could give Niland a good match, and well done to Bamford and Brassington for qualifying as well.
Not expecting too many Brits to get to the next round as they have had some tough draws in the first round here. Would say Slabinsky, Goodall, Eaton, Bamford should all get through to the next round and hopefully Skupski can cause the upset as well and Hewitt use his higher ranking to sneak through. Hope to see some of the others get through as well but not overly confident about it
Matthew Illingworth (Gbr) bt Alexander Slabinsky (Gbr) 7-6 (7-3) 6-4
Ken Skupski (Gbr) bt Juho Paukko (Fin) 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (7-5)
Ivan Cerovic (Cro) bt Sean Thornley (Gbr) 7-6 (7-4) 6-0
Neil Bamford (Gbr) bt Burnham Arlidge (Gbr) 6-1 3-6 6-3
David Celt (Pol) bt Chris Eaton (Gbr) 7-5 6-3
Peter Gojowczyk (Ger) bt Kyle Brassington (Gbr) 6-1 6-2 ,
Blimey! Great win for Skups ( ), disappointing losses for Slabba ( ) & Eaton ( ), fairly predictable for Thornley, Arlidge & Brassington. Quite a mixed bag of results!
last few results : James feaver was a LL but lost 2 and 2, hewitt lost in straights, and the impressive kinsella almost beat niland losing (7-5) in the final set tie break.
Had an inkling Illingworth might go one better this week. Hopefully he'll consolidate with another win.
Desperate result for Slabba , got to be disappointed with that, well done to matt, but I wish it was the other way round, cos I think Slabba had a better chance of going deep.
No improvement on the results posted by Freerider as far as the Brits were concerned today: Jonathan Kinsella lost to Conor Niland (3) 6-4 2-6 6-7(5) (gave him a run for his money, though! ) & Tim Hewitt to Andrej Martin 3 & 2 (looks like a bit of a meek surrender there! )...
