I was already writing when you did the holding post unfortunately - the one minor drawback of there being so many Brits in GB Futures! smile.gif

Yes, me too smile.gif - anyway, here's the main draw, moved onto this new page to make it easier for those still to comment on it.

L32: (WC) Maniel Bains WR 1051 v Uladzimir Ignatik (BLR) WR 601
L32: (7) Alex Slabinsky WR 392 v (WC) Matthew Illingworth WR 1136

L32: (Q) Jonathan Kinsella WR 1491 v (3) Conor Niland (IRL) WR 314
L32: Tom Rushby WR 703 v Rody Coco (FRA) WR 621
L32: Ken Skupski WR 665 v (8) Juho Paukku (FIN) WR 438

L32: Chris Eaton WR 652 v (Q) Dawid Celt (POL) WR 1105

How jammy is that, to get a LL place and then draw another LL

If it's a competition, I'll have to remember to post the Q results before doing the main draw - the whole lot took about 10-15 minutes. Bit it's not a competition, is it?! LOL

Not too surprised that O'Brien qualified as he looked excellent when he was practising and other than a couple of poor games against Steele he dominated that match completely. He's got a lovely game and plays a very similar game to Skupski.

The crazy pole though was the other player who looked really impressive and he's a nice guy so its disappointing to see him not qualify.

Poor loss from Hewitt but I guess he may have known that he had a LL spot because the seeds above him had all won their matches and so threw away the second set (hopefully that explains the second set) as Kosler didn't look all that good.

Kinsella did well to qualify as well and with his big serve he could give Niland a good match, and well done to Bamford and Brassington for qualifying as well.

Not expecting too many Brits to get to the next round as they have had some tough draws in the first round here. Would say Slabinsky, Goodall, Eaton, Bamford should all get through to the next round and hopefully Skupski can cause the upset as well and Hewitt use his higher ranking to sneak through. Hope to see some of the others get through as well but not overly confident about it

Looks as though the strain of taking the first set on a tie-break was just too much for young Maniel & he collapsed in the next two! cry

Blimey!  Great win for Skups ( clap.gif ), disappointing losses for Slabba ( cry ) & Eaton ( cry ), fairly predictable for Thornley, Arlidge & Brassington.  Quite a mixed bag of results! disbelief.gif

Skupski worship.gif Good going lad!

Had an inkling Illingworth might go one better this week. Hopefully he'll consolidate with another win.

Desperate result for Slabba , got to be disappointed with that, well done to matt, but I wish it was the other way round, cos I think Slabba had a better chance of going deep.

No improvement on the results posted by Freerider as far as the Brits were concerned today:  Jonathan Kinsella lost to Conor Niland (3) 6-4 2-6 6-7(5) (gave him a run for his money, though! thumbsup.gif ) & Tim Hewitt to Andrej Martin 3 & 2 (looks like a bit of a meek surrender there! cry )... hmm
