I was looking at the LTA website and it says your LTA Rating is 9.2, dan. I take it that was from ages ago or something, because it says you're a lapsed member?
When do you think you will be playing your next ITF tournament?
Kinsella has a great chance to do well this week I'd think with the right draw. He goes for broke on his first serve and when he gets the serve in it is near unreturnable on these courts. He's got a huge forehand as well and showed nice touch at the net as well so looks to have a decent fast-court game.
First set he dominated really and Horgan barely got a return in play. Second set was tighter as Kinsella's first serve percentage dropped quite a bit which gave Horgan a better chance but never got to a break point. Kinsella broke at 3-3 and then again at 3-5 to win the match.
Up next for him is Tassart who has a nice all round game but was quite inconsistant today and made plenty of errors, but so did Egerton which helped him. Egerton was looking good in the second set but made a series of poor errors at 3-4 which gave Tassart the break and that was the end of the match.
If Kinsella serves well then I think he'll win the match as he'll possibly create enough chances to get a break or take it to a tie break. Tassart is a really nice guy though so wouldn't be too disappointed if he won.
Hewitt's game doesn't suit the courts really but he had plenty of time on the court today as his match took nearly 2 hours. Hewitt was a good serve and was rarely troubled on it in either set. He hits with a lot of topspin, definately the most of anyway I saw play, which although gets the ball up high on the courts as they take spin means that he has to hit very deep to avoid it sitting up. He had decent touch at the net and was solid off both wings, but had a horrific break point conversion. He only broke once in the match (at 3-3 in set 1) but had break points in 7 or 8 games, often having 2 or 3 break points a game. Eg. at 5-5 in set 2, he had 0-40 but missed all 3 returns, all of them on second serves.
Hewitt should qualify as I wasn't too impressed with Kossler but can't see him getting a point this week without a favourable draw - he'll do better on slower surfaces
Feaver definately has a nice game - good lefty serve, good forehand, solid backhand and good volleys but was making a lot of errors today and was struggling to beat Campbell who I'd be surprised if he ever won a ranking point - just doesn't have enough in his game to win one. Feaver was always going to win the match and got an early break in both sets, but didn't look anywhere near as good as he did in practise.
Not surprised by O'Brien's win over Steele at all - he is a very good player and in practise looked the best of anyone to be honest. Made more errors in today's match as his backhand wasn't that strong but could do well here, if it wasn't for the fact he has the crazy pole in the next round, and he is by far the best player I saw in qualifying.
Well done to Rob Knight on getting a game against Kontinen - we were watching the match and thought this could be a disaster when Kontinen started with a huge second serve ace out wide. But Rob has a good first serve and hit 4/5 aces, including one with his first serve (although it was clearly out - and that is something I've noticed - a lot of the players don't have a clue about line calls - a lot of the time something is clearly out but they carry on playing and don't make the call), and two aces in the game which he held to make it 3-1. Kontinen was laughing throughout the match though and knew he was never in trouble (although will probably be ribbed for losing a game afterwards though) and cruised through the match - he has a lovely single handed backhand

I did have a rating a long time ago but when it expired and they changed the rating system I never bothered to get it renewed.
I got that rating about 2 years ago but never played enough matches really to improve the rating (and starting with a low rating again means it takes ages to improve), but won all of my matches against guys with a similar and slightly higher rating and should have beaten a 6.1 when I played against him (was 4-2 up in the 3rd when I lost the serve totally)
Next ITF event? I may play Bournemouth as it's going a couple of hours away from me but not sure yet as it depends on how much work I've got at Uni and how easy it is to get there.
I'll hope to play a couple more events this year and try to steadily improve - I think I'd have a better chance playing on the clay at Bournemouth as my weak serve won't get punished as much and will be able to play my normal, defensive game, but still wouldn't expect to win a game unless I got a good draw (and that unseeded Latvian who lost 0 and 0 to Patient would have been a nice draw as I'd be certain I could have taken games of him)
An excellent day for CourtCrazy's boys - I'll add in main draw WRs later.
FQR: Jeffrey Zungunde UNR lost to (q1) Jerzy Janowicz (POL) WR 706 by 4 & 2 FQR: (q2) Neil Bamford WR 825 beat Timothy Patient UNR by 7-6(2) 6-1 FQR: (q11/WC) Jonathan Kinsella WR 1491 beat (q3) Antoine Tassart (FRA) WR 830 by 5-4 ret. FQR: (q4/WC) Tim Hewitt WR 1017 lost to (q14) Jiri Kosler (CZE) WR 1851 by 4 & 0 FQR: (q10/WC) Kyle Brassington WR 1240 beat (q5) James Feaver WR 1024 by 2 & 2 FQR: Ben Pritchard UNR lost to (q6) Dawid Celt (POL) WR 1105 by 7-6(4) 6-3
This thread is just about to cut over a page break, so I'll move the main draw pairings into a new post so that it's on the same page where most people will post their comments about it.

If it's a competition, I'll have to remember to post the Q results before doing the main draw - the whole lot took about 10-15 minutes. Bit it's not a competition, is it?! LOL
