ATP Masters Miami - R2: Murray vs Ancic

Yep, Mario Ancic has just seen off Gilles Simon 6-2 6-7(2) 6-3 for the privilege of meeting Andy in the next round, presumably on Saturday...

H2H is one all, Andy won the last one of course in Marseille last month. The one Ancic won was back at the start of 2006 (Auckland)

Tough first match.

This will be played Saturday right??

Sky's coverage doesn't start until Sunday according to their website. Surely they will show his match. Can't remember the last time they didn't show a Murray match in a Masters Series live.

Masters Series TV starts covering matches on Saturday and they take their feed from TV stations so I'd guess it is being covered somewhere

Andy's going to have to be on-song for this one. Ancic is no slouch and he's already got a match under his belt and a feel for the way the courts are playing. 225 points to defend, I believe, here? He can't really afford another slip-up or he'll be tumbling down the rankings instead of moving up them. weirdface

From Wednesday's Times:
'Thus, the 20-year-old knows that whatever showing he puts up here, he has a bye in the first round and will play Mario Ancic, of Croatia, or Gilles Simon, of France, in the second round will have a huge bearing on his year. Every player ranked above Michael Llodra, the Frenchman who is No 38 in the world, can overtake Murray, who has 225 points to defend. Threats are everywhere and a first appearance in a Masters Series final would be invaluable protection.'

Not strictly speaking owt to do with this thread but... Djoko's gone in three, 6-7(1) 6-3 4-6 to Kevin Anderson. Didn't JB beat him in Brownsville?

Er, my reading of the OoP is that it's the fifth match on that court, to be played no earlier than 17.00 local time, so 21.00 GMT... confuse.gif

Easily done, especially if you read the thing in a hurry! wink  Either way, he should still be sufficiently awake by then.  I just hope he can avoid joining the procession of seeds out of the exit door that started with Nieminen yesterday! omg.gif
