So guys, it's that time again. The Pickem returns. This competition marks the one year anniversary since we started playing in a team competition against the AMmers. There are more teams now, but the target is still the same...we need to defend our title!!
So, the details. 1)As always, anyone can play, whether new or old, no need to ask permission from anyone, and no need to be any good at all. This is all for a bit of fun and to be quite frank you'd be hard pushed to be much worse than me, so have no fear!! 2)As always, the Count will be out to beat the Shedmeister and regardless of anybody else. 3)And as always he's liable to fail (but we can live in hope).
I think that's all the important details, just a couple of other minor points to mention, entries can be made through: http://www.britishtennis.net/Competitions.html and finally a (short) note about name changes:
"The overall rankings use an Excel lookup on the results of previous tournaments, which means that any difference between pick 'ems in the name you use on the entry form will result in your overall ranking points not being added together.
Capitalisation doesn't make any difference, but even a single extra letter, an extra space, using "-" when you used to use "_" or calling yourself "SONIque__" when you used to call yourself "SONIque_____" (had to be one of the ducklings from AR.com, didn't it ) is enough to mess things up.
At the end of each tournament, I try to correct for any changes when I spot them (checking email addresses to make sure that it really is the same person first), but it involves pasting the changed name back into up to 9 previous spreadsheets and it is the single biggest hassle and waste of time out of anything connected to pick 'em.
So, when you enter, please either:
- use exactly the same name you used last time - if in doubt, go to the overall rankings page and copy and paste from there - if you have the same name as a player from another team who has played in previous tournaments, e.g. there is a Linda (AM) and a Linda (AR), please enter with the team code in brackets as shown on the rankings table (please don't do this though if your pick 'em name is currently unique)
OR
- email me at btpickem@hotmail.com after you enter and tell me what you have changed your name from and to (just posting here is not enough, we might miss it) - also, to avoid me having to check whether or not you are really a new player, if you are changing teams from the one shown for you on the rankings, please email me at btpickem@hotmail.com and make it clear that you are doing this (I will continue to check for and correct these myself too though, since in this case it isn't the entrant's fault that this has happened like it is with name changes)
Thank you! "
Good luck and please enter, BT.net needs you're expertise (at the very least to balance out my own poor attempts!)

Just to mention, you may have seen the new ATP 'bracket challenge' game which is basically the same as this one, only more sophisticated in some areas (like the ability to login and change/view your picks) because the ATP has a small, but significant advantage commonly known as money.
If you're entering that, it will only take a few minutes to enter ours as well, plus we cover the slams too. And just generally are much better, for a full list of reasons see the sister thread to this one on the AndyMurray.com forum.

The entry form with qualifiers placed is now available via http://www.britishtennis.net/Competitions.html - good luck everyone!
Just a reminder that we'll be very happy with you if you can manage to enter by 09.30 GMT tomorrow morning, but the final deadline is 15.00 GMT when play starts.
P.S. It shouldn't make me happy, but it does - our entry form was updated before the ATP bracket challenge again.

I entered last night. Got a good feeling about this one.

If you are still intending to enter but have not yet filled in your entry form, please note that because play on the outside courts turns out to be starting one hour earlier than play on the show courts, the deadline for entries is 14.00 GMT instead of 15.00 GMT. To be as fair as possible to everyone in an imperfect situation, entries between 14.00 and 15.00 will be accepted, but entries received after a player has taken a clear lead in one of the early matches will not be able to score a point for that match.
The reason for the confusion is that when I first published the entry form on Monday, it said on Miami site that play would be starting at 11.00 EDT on main draw days. This implied to me that they meant play on all courts. That's probably also why the ATP bracket challenge page said at the time that their deadline (09.00 Eastern) was 2 hours before play starts - they have since changed it to say that it is 1 hour before play starts, though their rules page still says 2 hours!

I entered the ATP one, god there must be a lot of entrants. I've got the first 10 results spot on, and I'm one of 97 players with 10/10
Assuming I'm the a similar % of the way down the table on our comp as on theirs, I think they've got about 10000 entrants.
I believe the Rochelle Jones who is in the outright lead on 14/15 (15/16 once they finally add the Malisse result) is the same Rochelle who sometimes posts here.
