Looking at the list of players youu've mentioned, I don't hold up much hope for the majority sadly. Seator looked pretty unimpressive to be honest with you and Alridge although doing well to qualify has the weakest looking forehand you'll see, he kind of pushes it with no swing at head height. Illingworth to all intensive purposes is a fighter with no big weapons. Rushby is very similiar.
Cox has potentially a big game but the majority of the players mentioned above would be lucky to reach Jamie Baker's level. Baker seems to be a player who doesn't have big shots be has worked to maximise his potential. Even if the players I've mentioned work there backsides off, they won't get much higher than him. Morgan, Cox, Skupski have the games to push higher if they take their opportunities and hopefully Slaba too. Goodall & Bloomers have good all round games so its surprising that their rankings are on the way down, let's hope they can turn it round and reach their potential
Well done to Bloomers and Goodall for reaching the final here so at least we'll have a British winner and shows they got it right in dropping down a level at least for this week to pick up the points.
I don't have a problem with them playing at this level, as long as they are reaching finals and winning them as they are getting the same number of points as for reaching QFs of a 50K challenger - it's when they lose early there is the problem.
And at least they are winning matches and building up their confidence again, even though it's against opponents they should be beating
I thought he might, from the reports on here, Josh had hit a bit of a hot streak this week. A bit of a pity, because Richard needed the points more with 19 coming off during Miami. Looks like it was a good close match though.
