I answered Johnny's question without noticing that there was a page 2! Turned over and realised that it had already been answered - twice. I've now deleted my overkill!
FQR: (q15) Tim Hewitt WR 1014 beat (q8) Neil Bamford WR 820 by 2-0 ret.
I don't like the look of that 'Ret.', hope it's not too serious.
I used last Monday's rankings for qualifying, now switching to this Monday's rankings ...
L32: Miles Kasiri WR 519 v (Q) Tim Hewitt WR 1021
Miles is in the same quarter as (6) Ferrer-Victoria and (4) Ball, beat (SE) Bubka in R1 on Tuesday.
L32: (Q) Matthew Illingworth WR 1127 v Roberto Bautista-Agut (ESP) WR 471
Not a great reward for qualifying ...
L32: (2) Josh Goodall WR 343 v Oscar Burrieza-Lopez (ESP) WR 579
Josh is in a dream quarter with the no. 8 seed, two players ranked outside the top 570, three qualifiers and an unranked WC! Streakboy, i.e. (SE) Machado, still unseeded, is in the same half but a different quarter, he faces Loglo in R1.

Fell bad for Illingowrth after such a great perfromance in qualies! Hopefully he's in inspired form and can dump Bautista-Agut out as well but can't help thinking Futures have become unfair on qualifiers.
Perhaps qualifiers should get a point in 124-draw qualifying draws? Or giove all qualifiers a point but no points for WC's who lose in R1?
What a DIRE 24 hours this is turning into for GB tennis, what with 4/4 losses in IW, Ward's awful loss in Badalona and now this ...
L32: Miles Kasiri WR 519 beat (Q) Tim Hewitt WR 1021 by 2 & 2 L32: (Q) Matthew Illingworth WR 1127 lost to Roberto Bautista-Agut (ESP) WR 471 by 0 & 3 L32: (2) Josh Goodall WR 343 lost to Oscar Burrieza-Lopez (ESP) WR 579 by 7-5 7-6(6)
You'll notice that I've been making excuses for Josh the last couple of weeks (2nd highest number of games taken off Machado in Machado's long winning streak, etc) when other have been saying he's on the road to oblivion, but having said "Josh is in a dream quarter with the no. 8 seed, two players ranked outside the top 570, three qualifiers and an unranked WC!" in my preview, I've run out of excuses for him now.
I guess O B-L is at home on this type of court and is 'only' ranked 236 places below Josh, but you begin to despair, don't you ...
I feel sorry for Matt - no points despite winning 4 matches this week!
L16: Miles Kasiri WR 519 v (6) Cesar Ferrer-Victoria (ESP) WR 414

There are no real excuses, Josh is/was a player that should be competing at challenger level, he should not in any way be losing so regularly to lower ranked players in this manner.
We should pledge never to talk about this week ever again. By-law: If Miles goes on to have a great week we shall be allowed to mention it with regards to his performance.
Good idea, but I think we should probably pledge not to talk about ANY tournaments in Portugal so far this year - and more to the point, the LTA should pledge never to send any players to the Algarve again (or to let them go even if they want to!)
