Dubai QF: Murray vs Davydenko

The head-to-head currently stands at 3-2 in Andy's favour:  he was beaten in their first-ever encounter in IW in 2006, then in the USO later the same year, but has had the upper hand ever since:  revenge in IW last year + victory in two successive tournaments in Doha, last year & this.  Will Davy-donkey peg him back to 3-3 - disbelief.gif - or will Andy extend his lead - please.gif ?

If monday's murray comes out then straight sets with bakery products.

if he produces what he did today, he'll go down in three.

I'm pretty sure he will produce the good though.

Second match on the centre court tomorrow, after Ferrer/López, which kicks off at 14.00 local/10.00 GMT - obviously more popular with the organisers than the all-Spanish encounter! wink

*  I see Gasquet's gone, beaten 3 & 4 by Igor Andreev! clap.gifbiggrin

Davy-donkey's had a couple of easy matches so far. It could work against him. If he's not up-to-speed he might find it difficult to get into the match - then again, he could be relaxed and fairly fresh. ashamed Monday's Murray better turn up to be on the safe side. wink

DD cannot win this...Andy can only loose it. DD cannot work Murray out and gets frustrated just trying IMO. So serve well and its a semi-spot....most likely against Ferrer.

Not really the right thread but not sure where to put this - if it's worth noting!

The ATP site feature Knowles and Bhupathi beating Murray and Wawrinka tonight. You'd think they'd get it right, wouldn't you!

I think this needs an edit.... it doesn't make sense.

If we correct 'loose' to 'lose', it makes sense to me.

Translated into longhand, it reads, " Davydenko can't win this match, but Andy can lose it (by playing badly). Davydenko doesn't understand, or cope with, Murray's game, and allows himself to become frustrated in the process, I believe. So, if Andy serves well, he will reach the semi-finals, where he will probably play Ferrer."

Looking back on it, I much prefer Drew in the original!!

Drew seems to have a bit of a problem with "lose" & "loose"...! biggrin

Seriously, his SF scenario has just had a great big hole blown through it:

David Ferrer (4) is now out, having just been beaten 3 & 4 by his compatriot, Feliciano López! That means Davy-donkey is the only seed left in Andy's half of the draw! What a prospect - if he can just make sure that the Monday, Fed-busting, Andy turns up today! pray.gif

Andy broken to go 6-5 down, then had a break- back point, but couldn't convert to lose the first set 6-4. LOTS of f- word laden Murray self- recrimination in the last game of the set.
