Ouch this ones going to hurt. Mel loses 4-6 6-2 6-7(6). She saved 3 match points in the tie-break.

The match with Olga Savchuk is an opportunity for Katie (first match on court 1), against a player who has racked up just 11 games in her last 4 matches, albeit against much stronger opposition, and should be short on confidence

No surprise that Anne lost, but a disappointing score. That is 7 straight sets wins for Niculescu over Brits in the past 6 months, and she also nearly beat Ana Ivanovic in the Fed Cup, so is much better than her ranking. Anne is second in line for an LL, so not likely.

Hopefully a learning experience for Mel, who has never qualified for a Tour event outside the UK.

Katie lost the 1st set to Savchuk 6-4 cry but has just gone 4-2 up in the 2nd. smile

Exactly half of the games in each set have been breaks of serve so far.
