Great site by the way, really good to see people who are quite so positive about British sport. The way it should be.
Got a quick question regarding this tournament. It's a little bit technical but there seems to be a number of clever people who know about these sorts of things.
Right, ok, bear with me...
There are 4 places for qualifiers in the event and these places are already drawn and have 'qualifier' where the name would go.
Do the people who are qualifying know which place they are going to be in, i.e. the one at the top of the draw in the qs goes into the slot nearest the top of the main draw? Or is it drawn random?
Was just hoping it was random cause I noticed there seemed to be one big juicy chance to make the second round should Anne or Mel get there.
Thanks guys.
P.s. if that nonsense doesn't make sense just come round my house and slap me with a wet haddock.
yeah, it's always random. there is a separate qualifier's draw, as happycynic said, where the qualifiers are placed into the draw. The same is true at every level and for the men's game as well.
And may I add my welcome wishes as well

Oh no, Mel is broken again. Saved a break point at 30-40 with a second serve ace to get to deuce, then lost the goame. Tie-break time? Hold your nerve Mel!
