RE: Week 10 - WTA Bangalore - Tier 2

Wow, great results from Mel and Anne so far and lovely to see Katie making the main draw, bet she was a little surprised by that one!!

Good luck to the two Brits in the FQR tomorrow, I'd really love to see a couple of wins. please.gif

Hi guys and gals!

Great site by the way, really good to see people who are quite so positive about British sport. The way it should be.

Got a quick question regarding this tournament. It's a little bit technical but there seems to be a number of clever people who know about these sorts of things.

Right, ok, bear with me...

There are 4 places for qualifiers in the event and these places are already drawn and have 'qualifier' where the name would go.

Do the people who are qualifying know which place they are going to be in, i.e. the one at the top of the draw in the qs goes into the slot nearest the top of the main draw? Or is it drawn random?

Was just hoping it was random cause I noticed there seemed to be one big juicy chance to make the second round should Anne or Mel get there.

Thanks guys.

P.s. if that nonsense doesn't make sense just come round my house and slap me with a wet haddock.

lol

Um I think it's random.

I dno if it is in challenger events but I think in Top tournies it's random.

I really hope they can both make it. I really do.

I believe there is a qualifiers' draw- i.e. random. Certainly is at GS events.

yeah, it's always random. there is a separate qualifier's draw, as happycynic said, where the qualifiers are placed into the draw. The same is true at every level and for the men's game as well.

And may I add my welcome wishes as well smile.gif

Haha, thanks very much.

Looks like I avoided a fishy fate.

I'll psychicly wish the ladies best of luck for tomorrow.

There were 5 breaks of serve in the 1st set (3-2 Szatmari), 2 in the 2nd (2-0 Mel, who saved 2 bps), 1 each already in the 3rd.

*2-3 40-0 then double fault 40-15, the scoreboard has since frozen for about 5 minutes.

Oh no, Mel is broken again. Saved a break point at 30-40 with a second serve ace to get to deuce, then lost the goame. Tie-break time? Hold your nerve Mel!

Doh! Is that twice she got broken serving for the match. (my computer crashed at an inopportune time) - now *3-3 in the t/b anyway.
