For those of you not asleep yet who prefer specifics ...
Miles
51 points now + 0 from last week = 51 next Monday (54+ needed based on the analysis in my last post) + 1 (today) - 1 (Canada F1) = 51 at the end of IW (54+ needed) - 1 (Canada F2) = 50 at the end of Miami (53 needed)
So he needs 3 more points, i.e. SFs this week, to probably make it at the end of IW) or QFs of a 15K in the next couple of weeks to make it at the end of Miami. There's also a window of opportunity of about 3 more weeks after that before 2 points from Sweden come off. N.B. He can't do it with three 1-pointers, because he can only count 18 events.
James
52 points now + 1 from last week = 53 next Monday (54+ needed) + 0 (this week) - 0 = 53 at the end of IW (54+ needed) - 0 = 53 at the end of Miami (53 needed)
So James will probably be in the top 500 at the end of Miami even if he scores no more points between now and then. However, if he doesn't score any more points soon, it may only last a month, since he has 4 points coming off from a Spanish Future SF in April and 8 more from two Greek SFs around the end of May.
Edward
50 points now + 3 from last week = 53 next Monday (54+ needed) + 0 (this week) - 0 = 53 at the end of IW (54+ needed) - 1 (Ghana F1) = 52 at the end of Miami (53 needed)
So, Edward needs another point next week to (probably) make it by the end of IW or another point in the two weeks after that to (probably) make it by the end of Miami. After Ghana F1 comes off, he doesn't have any more points coming off until two 1-pointers from Algeria come off in May, then nothing for ages after that.
In other words, James is the best bet to make it by the end of March, but Edward is the best bet to make it in March or April and to stay there for a bit if he does.
P.S. I keep trying not to think about this top 500 rubbish, then someone insists on bringing it up again!

He did eventually give away that he was a tiny bit bothered by asking one day if he could get there by winning the next day. then admitting he'd checked himself using steveg when I didn't answer fast enough. LOL
I hope (and assume) he wasn't that bothered though. I think if you're a player, it could be a nice thing to celebrate when it happens, i.e. a small goal on the way to the top 100 or wherever you really want to be, but not something to really care about either way in the meantime.
For us, it's quite a good, simple measure of the depth in GB tennis if we make the (rash) assumption that those a bit lucky to be in there (lucky draws or whatever) will balance out those a bit unlucky not to be there.
Actually, the top 500 'thing' came from the fact that when I first did the 'top 25' table on the Rusedski board (and soon afterwards for the David Sherwood site) in early 2005, I could only get within the post size limits with 20 players or less, so I decided to do it for just the Brits in the top 500. Because of that, it was really obvious when the number increased (all the way up to 20 in Oct 2005) then decreased so dramatically afterwards, mainly due to a big spate of retirements and players like Aucks deciding to concentrate on doubles. So, I'm guilty as charged, but it was an accident m'lud.
(and as Slabba proved, the top 500 'jinx' is just a myth, even if it didn't seem like that for a while!)

Petty? Says the person who constantly points out spelling mistakes.
Not a spelling mistake in this instance. Try checking the dictionary definition of "small-minded"... If I were so petty as to correct every single spelling mistake on this board, my total number of posts would be far in excess of yours & on a par with those of, say, RobC, imoen, Drew, johnnylad or possibly even Sheddie!
L16: Miles Kasiri WR 513 lost to lost to (SE) Rui Machado (POR) WR 612 by 4 & 1 L16: (3) Joshua Goodall WR 339 beat (SE) Frederic Jeanclaude (FRA) WR 657 by 6-7(2) 6-3 6-2
Miles, not unexpectedly, lost to last week's winner (the third Brit to suffer death by Machado in the last 10 days), but Josh came through very convincingly after going a set down against last week's other finalist! He now faces another player who is going for a Brit-slaying hat-trick in these two Futures ...
QF: (3) Joshua Goodall WR 339 v (Q) Sergei Bubka Jr (UKR) WR 629
Bubka beat Kasiri & Eaton last week before going out to James Ward's nemesis, Klymenko, who was then defeated by Josh's R2 opponent this week, Jeanclaude. Does that mean Josh should have the edge? Let's hope so!

Stircrazy - while I agree that the reports on britishtennis.net should be reasonably grammatical and correct in spelling, on a messageboard anything goes!
Bear in mind that many people are posting in a hurry, before the Boss catches them wasting their time on tennis. . .
Just realised (2 hours later) that Rob posted the singles and doubles results just as I was doing the singles ones. Oops! Anyway, here's what neither of us posted, the doubles SF line-up:
SF: (4) Carsten Ball/Chris Eaton (AUS/GBR) v Sergei Bubka/Vladyslav Klymenko (UKR), who beat the no. 1 seeds convincingly today
SF: (2)Neil Bamford/Joshua Goodall (GBR) v Julien Maes/Trystan Meniane (FRA), who scraped through against the no. 3 seeds today

Goody lost to Bubka 1 & 4 in the singles , but got his revenge, after a fashion, when Carsten Ball & Chris Eaton beat him & Klymenko in the doubles SF 6-2 2-6 [10-8], while Goody himself & Bamfs beat Maes & Meniane 4 & 3 in the other SF. Don't know whether to laugh or cry! Bit of both, I suppose... So, 75% British doubles final!
