Just two Brits in qualifying here, both of whom have drawn players from Burkina Faso who are even more inexperienced than they are.
QR1: Nikki Roenn UNR v (WC) Sansan Dabire (BUR) UNR QR1: Orion Modebe UNR v Frederic Koama (BUR) UNR
The top seed in qualifying was two places below Matt Smith on the Alt list, which suggests that Matt Smith will be joining Edward in the main draw if he has turned up.

I am not really surprise that Nikki Roenn lost, I for one don't rate him too highly & would be shocked if he even got a point let alone any time soon!!
I would love to see Orion Modebe pick up a few points though, now he is someone who is pushing towards earning some points!! He will go to India in a couple of weeks with big George Coupland for a couple of futures too, so fingers crossed!

Partial copy from the GB top 25 thread, since it affects Edward here
Unfortunately, the number of players in the rankings with 53 or more points has gone up yet again this week from 497 to 499 and since Edward is counting more tournaments than anyone who currently has 53 points, this means that the best position he can be in at the start of IW is 500th.
That will only happen if nobody else outside the top 500 scores enough points in ATPs or Challengers this week to overtake him and nobody outside the top 500 has enough points from last week's Futures waiting to go on the rankings to overtake him. The latter seems highly unlikely, so I fear Edward will miss out this time.
However, if he reaches R2 this week, he is likely to be in the top 500 at the end of Indian Wells, while if he reaches the QFs, it's certain.

FQR: Orion Modebe UNR lost to (q4) Ergun Zorlu(TUR) WR 985 by 4 & 2
Main draw
The good news: Matt is here, and he got rewarded with a very kind R1 draw against a local player in his first tournament.
The bad news: Edward withdrew on Friday - I didn't see that coming. Hopefully he just wanted a break and it doesn't mean he got injured in the doubles last week or messed about over confirming his participation like Slabba did in Croatia recently.
L32: Matt Smith WR 894 beat (WC) Akre Francis Koffi (CIV) by 2 & 1
L16: Matt Smith WR 894 v Denys Molchanov (UKR) WR 616

Edward has also pulled out of next weeks event here - lets hope it's nothing serious...hands up who started talking about Top 500 and started the jinx??
if nikki roenn makes a point then il give up eating curry and only eat english food for the rest of my life!! shesh....talk some sense people
Some one once told me not to make promises that I could not keep...I would think thats the more sensible approach.
Various people have made such foolish remarks as yours on this board and ended up either eating their words or camping outside in a shed for a week !!!
Nikki may never get a WR....no nothing about the guy.....but I hope he gets one soon.
