QR1: (8) Alexander Slabinsky WR 396 v Nicolas Tourte (FRA) WR 428
A regular in tournaments in the UK in the past, Tourte has been ranked as high as 215. Last year he took a set off Boggo in Lanzarote, beat Del in Surbiton and beat Josh in the semis in Felixstowe. However, before this week, he had lost 8 of his 9 matches since August, including a straight sets defeat by Skupski in Tipton last month.
Unfortunately for Slabba, he seems to have found a bit of form in France, winning three matches to qualify for Besancon last week before going out to Santoro.
The top seed in this section is Michael Ryderstedt.
They have found a brilliantly simple way to do live scores without having to set up anything too automated - a webcam on the scoreboard!
That's a pity, I hoped he'd win that one. Anyway, the main draw is now out:
L32: Alex Bogdanovic WR 193 v Joseph Sirianni (AUS) WR 156
Quite the late developer, Sirianni has just turned 33 but celebrated by reaching a career high of 143 last month when he reached the semi-fijnals of Adelaide ATP, following up a lucky retirement by Count Duckula (who was 7-6 4-3 up at the time) with hard fought wins over Querrey & Mathieu!
He has since gone on a 4-match losing streak, including a 5-7 2-6 7-6(6) 6-0 0-6 (!) loss to Tipsy at the AO, where he had a WC. Sirianni lost to Lee Childs but beat Jamie Baker last year. Boggo hasn't faced him since a GB Future in 2004, but at least he won - 6-1 in the 3rd. The Australian's recent matches have tended to go the distance, so Boggo will have to be prepared to keep fighting for three long sets, I feel.
The winner will play no. 2 seed Schukin WR 122 or Beck, who has got an SE after an excellent week in Besancon, where he thrashed Santoro 1 & 1.
All in all, apparently another crap draw for the Boggster BUT he beat Beck 4 & 4 in Shrewsbury last year AND he beat Schukin 5 & 1 in RG qualifying last year too. Schukin was also the player thrashed 2 & 0 by Jamie Baker in AO qualifying, so he doesn't like the Brits "up 'im", as it were.

Maybe the background adds 'atmosphere' ... then again, maybe not!
It doesn't seem to change that frequently, not even once per game, but it's better than nothing - if GB Challengers did something this simple, it would be a big improvement!
Anyway, the doubles match before Boggo's match is currently showing as just about to start, so I imagine it'll be worth looking for Alex from around 16.00 GMT.
