Interesting btw to note that when this week's points go on the rankings and Vegas 2007 comes off, Boggo will have played:
- 17 tournaments in Europe, scoring 163 points from 10 and only failing to score in 6 - 14 tournaments in N America, scoring 63 points from 3 (55 of those from Valencia CA) and failing to score in 11 - 2 tournaments in Oceania, scoring 11 points from 2

no thats right Steven, since then he only ever won 2 matches in a row twice, once at queens and once at a chellnger late in the year, maybe in germany?
France: Grenoble in September - Ledovskikh & Muller, then L to Berrer - but also Andrezieux in October - Borvanov & Chardy, then L to Acasuso.

i think that you would expect the european point to be higher for a player like alex as the majority will be from the faster court events (save for a few clay) whereas the others will be outdoor hard.
of course last year was a funny one as alex played a lot of events where he had very little chance of winning, which really shifts the stats imo.

hmm Pless hasnt done much this year up till now, but has been cruising this event, so similar to alex, he did have some good results indoors last autumn, inc wins over berrer & ascione.
they have played twice and split wins. alex will need to serve at his best like today i think. i imagine pless has a monster serve.

Pless does not have a monster serve (I saw him beat Baker in Southampton a few years ago) but hits his ground shots very hard and is a pretty solid player (he was dominating Jamie although this was when Jamie was ranked around 500)
I think Boggo has every chance if he keeps up the standard of today
SF: Alex Bogdanovic WR 192 v (4) Kristian Pless WR 137
Pless had a career high of 65 in 2002 but has slipped back a fair bit since then. When Boggo first played him in Wrexham in 2005, Pless hadn't played a Brit since 2001, but was on an 8-match winning streak against them stretching back to 1999. Boggo broke that streak by winning in two tiebreak sets.
Pless then went back on a winning streak against Brits in 2005, beating Del at the start of the year and then four in a row (Baker, Lee, revenge against Boggo himself 7-6(5) 6-4 and then Bloomers in three tiebreak sets, 10-8 in the last), on his way to the Final in Southampton.
In 2006, he beat Mackin & Bloomers in Dublin, but succumbed to Jonny Marray in Stockholm ATP qualifying, probably one of Jonny's two best-ever weeks and he has since lost to Andy Murray in successive weeks in San Jose and Memphis last year. He still regularly goes deep in Challengers though, having won one, finished runner-up in another and reached two more SFs in the last 12 months.
This will be the first time Boggo has played him outside the UK and I imagine there's a high chance of at least one set going to a tiebreak!

thanks steven (and seagul), so pless will be the fav going in, but if it gets into rallies then i think alex's shot making will give him a chance. i agree it will be close. hope alex can pull it off, but am happy for him from this week, so no pressure.

Thanks for the live scores guys, only just got to read through them. Awesome result, Alex can really roll when the confidence is there so I'm hopeful for tomorrow too.

I'm sorry it took so long (I was busy sightseeing) but the report on Alex' match against Beck is now on. Tomorrow morning I'll post on the match against Kim. Best greetings guy, I'm glad Alex can do so well in the event that I have a coverage of.
Also nice that I got friends with Stakhovsky BEFORE this deal in Zagreb and I have an interview with him, too :P
