Apologies for anyone who's on this thread for the tennis, but I'm back to geography!

The idea that government re-organisation can actually move a city from one county to another is a nonsense; after all, another government ten years down the line is very likely to move it back again - I'm old enough to remember these happenings!! Suggesting that Liverpool isn't in Lancashire any more is tantamount to saying that Warrington is in Cheshire - which, technically, it is, but I suspect Gareth and all other Wire would be dismayed to hear that Lancastrians disown them, the way he's trying to disown us Scousers. And I speak with several hats on, here, having been born and spent my infant years in Knotty Ash....

Sorry to go back to this, but I know I have Warrington on my profile for where I'm from but its only because its nearest place to me that is known. Actually from place called Leigh which is in Lancashire hence why said that on my reply earlier on. Warrington's a bizarre on as if from east side you say your Manc or Lanc, if on west side you say your scouse. Really its just a hole that no county actually wants biggrin

Bloomers & Skups are in action today against the all-German partnership of Marc Meigel & Philipp Petzschner in the final match on the centre court, after an all-German singles encounter (Lars Uebel vs another Beck, Andreas), which will kick off no earlier than 17.30 GMT.  Good luck, chaps! wink

Bloomers & Skups defeated the all-German partnership of Marc Meigel & Philipp Petzschner 4-6 6-3 10-5 and go thro to Fridays semi in the last match on the centre court (around 7.00pm GMT) against 3rd seeds Johan BRUNSTROM / Frederik NIELSEN (SWE / DEN)
This must mean that Bloomers & Skups planned trip to Japan next week will be scrapped - This is the hazard of doing well in doubles when trying to pursue singles!

The top half finalist have already been decided - the no 4 seedsC. BALL /I. VAN DER MERWE.

missing tournaments is the disadvantage, but the advantage is extra money and the fact that you have a companion to travel with

Well done to them, but really sorry if it means the Japan trip's going to be cancelled - I agree with the advantages of doing well in doubles, but Bloomers really needs some singles points at the moment - don't want nearly all our players ending up as just doubles specialists.

I wonder if they'll enter qualies somewhere else next week.

Germany to Japan in consecutive weeks seems a little adventurous anyway...is there a series of events in Japan that they were going out for or was it just one tournament?

I guess Bloomers wants to be focussing on Challengers so might benefit from the week off but Skupski certainly wouldn't be out of place in Spain or Portugal next week.

They're 2nd evening match again, so there's no chance of Ken making sign-in for Futures qualifyng this week even if they lose, unless one of next week's European Futures has a Saturday sign-in.

Since Bloomers is a DA in Japan, he could of course still make it in time for the main draw, but whether he'll want to fly halfway around the world and start the tournament with no time to prepare there is another matter, of course. I'd guess small chance if they go out tonight, no chance if they win.

Louk Sorensen (the aforementioned Irish lad) is doing very well to have reached the QFs here!

Yeah, I think you'd find most Scots (bar Rangers fans!) and Welsh supporting our Celtic cousins - many English fans, too, no doubt.
Louk's 13 points so far should take him back (just) inside the top 300.

Louk won in straights.

The match before the dubs finished about 30 minutes ago, still nothing on the live score.
