Just a quick note.....taking my daughter swimming again.

Marcus beat another ten year old 6-3, 6-4. Great match. The points were longish, they were on court for an hour and a half. Marcus has his first trophy. He played great. I'll get a picture for you guys soon.

Hey DJ do u think we could start a 'sucesses' thread for Montana Marcus !!

Well done Doug...give him our best !!!

(A photo of the trophy would be nice !)

Marcus final match of the tournament was his best. I couldnt believe how well he played. He played against a lad that he had beat before (in two tight sets). I think Marcus thought he would win easily. I wish I had saved some room to tape some of this match, but alas.....anyway it was a first to eight pro set as it was a consolation match in the 12s. I think his opponent is 12 and he was up for this as Marcus had beat him before. Twice the other lad served for the match at 7-6 and then 8-7, twice Marcus broke him. It was strange as for so long the set was on serve and then neither player could hold. The tie breaker went to 6-5 to Marcus, but he double faulted on his first match point, but took his second match point to win 8-6 in the tie break, 9-8 in the match. It was a great match. The other lad had a game plan of drop shots to bring Marcus in and pass or lob him. It meant that Marcus was at the net tons and pulled off some great volleys hardly his strength, but he pulled through.

Anyway, here are the three videos, enjoy. Read the notes in the videos and you will get the picture. You will also see how far away I was from the action. His final was really tough viewing.

Oh, Marcus fell asleep in the car ride home, fancy that.

Count, I know, I think he realizes that once you shake hands it is over and so he wants that handshake ASAP. In the first video the kid didn't move as he thought the shot was in. He was talking about that afterwards. I felt bad when I watched the video as it is very close and Marcus won 6-1, 6-1, so you hate a kid to go home feeling bad about the last point. Sometimes Marcus calls an out hopefully before the ball bounces but normally corrects himself. In the final he call a double bounce twice and so I think he is honest, just sometimes makes mistakes.

It is cute though the way he came over hand out etc.
