RE: Week 9 - Futures F8 (10k) - Terrasa, Spain

As before, just with rankings added, then details of R2:

L32: (Q) Dan Smethurst WR 1286 beat (Q) Emilio Rodriguez-Navarro (ESP) WR 1220 by 2 & 1 biggrin
L32: Myles Blake WR 650 lost to (JE) Stephane Piro (FRA) WR 1246 by 2 & 3 ashamed

L16: (Q) Dan Smethurst WR 1286 v (Q) David Diaz-Ventura (ESP) WR 1032

Dan could hardly ask for a better reward for qualifying than getting two other qualifiers in the first two rounds of the main draw (albeit higher-ranked qualifiers) but Diaz-Ventura thrashed the no. 4 seed (WR 313) 3 & 1 today so must be pretty good unless Salva-Vidal was ill!

Think you remember the name Diaz-Ventura? Well, Robert Dee fans will know him as the guy who inflicted only the second double bagel of Rob's career last week after beating him 0 & 1 in 2005. He once took Morgan Phillips to three sets, but got bagelled in the 3rd.

that fourth point of Dan's senior career should lift him to approximately 1220 when the next but one ranking list is issued, and that's not taking into account the possibility (shhh!) of another couple of points available for a win over D-V.
