RE: Week 9 - Futures F8 (10k) - Terrasa, Spain

The way the draw 'trees' for tournaments with four qualifying rounds turn back on themselves is very confusing, but yet, unfortunately Josh lost. Diez has been a real pain, he's knocked out both of our highest-ranked player in qualifying. Great to see Ward make the FQR and Smethurst get through to the main draw though. smile.gif I wonder when they'll release that.

Steven Diez (who's now beaten Dan Cox & Josh Milton) is still only 16 years old.

He doesn't seem to have ever played a ITF junior event, but has twice qualified thru these tough Spanish futures.  This is his first outing of 2008.

Junior exempt. You get it for finishing in the top 10 of the junior rankings the previous year, getting entry into the main draw of futures for a certain amount of tournamets.

One extreme to the other, great win for Dan, not so great from Myles!

Drew, Dan Evans beat him in a final of a G1 last year, but he has beaten Cox, Evans and Rice on numerous occassions.

i think im right in saying that smethurst is the only british player who has scored points in every tournament that he has played in so far this year. could be wrong though.

Not going well for Myles at the moment. In fact since started speaking to him his form has dipped - maybe I've cursed him! Lol
