You beat me to it wolfie!  At least I can claim to be adding to the sum of knowledge on this thread:  they're in the opposite half of the draw to Stretch & the Beast this time! biggrin

Another snippet:  one of the first things I did when I had a chance yesterday was check the doubles rankings, whereupon I discovered that there'd been no change in Jamie's after his sterling efforts last week, i.e. still 35th.  One of the things I like about the ATP site, however, is that you can choose to have just the names of players from a single country listed, so the next thing I spotted was that Ross had overtaken, nay, veritably leapfrogged, Aucks (84 compared with 109!) to become the new British N° 2! Well done to him! Bet his dad's proud! clap.gifhat.gif

Looks like someone's been lying about their age ... perhaps he'll make a comeback at JUNIOR Wimby this year. wink

SAP daily scores 18 Feb 2008

In fact, it was an exhibition match, though I'm not sure why they chose Haas to play him this time, indeed I thought Haas was out injured. If that's not what explains the score, maybe we'll see the only player most boring serve and volleyer ever back on court at some point ...

This might explain why it was Tommy Haas. thumbsup.gif

I think you've got the time round your neck a bit, wolfie:  play on (at?  I'm a bit confused about the layout of the place!) the Courtside Club Court 16 kicks off at 16.00 local time with a doubles match between the second seeds, Bhupathi & Knowles, & the Czech pair, Levinsky & "Ugly Mug" Stepanek.  California is eight hours behind the UK, so by my reckoning, that's midnight our time, with the Han/Hutch match getting under way round about 02.00...

Ross and Victor do the business, beating Querry and Kendrick 7-6, 6-4.  They must be very pleased, perhaps Ross can carve out a niche as a doubles specialist....

It certainly was.  Certainly justified his & Han's being drafted in as alternates! clap.gifsmile  I, too, had assumed that he'd settled for life as a doubles specialist, especially as he no longer has a singles ranking!  It's beginning to look as though the DC experience in Buenos Aires could have been the turning point in his career:  last year he was playing doubles at Challenger/Futures level with Josh Goodall.  This year, Josh is clearly on the slide & in desperate need of emergency measures to pull out of it, while Ross has now overtaken Aucks (now back at Challenger level! cry) to become the British doubles N° 2 & is enjoying a thoroughly-deserved regular (I hope) spot in the ATP limelight! thumbsup.gif  Here's hoping they can now do for "the Rati Thais" in the QF... please.gif

*  Stretch & the Beast finally get on court today:  again at the Courtside Club (Los Gatos) - Court 16 at midnight GMT. pray.gif

Hutchins is defending 36 points from the Besancon Challenger last year (which he has already recovered and added an extra four with his 40 points already this week) and then has nothing to defend until Queens Club in June. So hopefully he can shoot up the rankings betweem now and then.

Yay!  M & M prevail over Bops & Qureshi 4 & 4 to join Han & Hutch in the QFs, which both pairs will play later today:  Han & Hutch set the ball rolling against "the Rati Thais" on the main court at 17.30 & M & M follow them, playing the unseeded Belgians, Steve Darcis & Kristof Vliegen! smile  clap.gif

For the record, the Bryans had another tough one against the WCs, Isner & Young, in their QF.  They eventually won 6-3 4-6 [10-5]!
