Boggo's starts the week climbing 2 places to 191 as Menendez and Di Mauro drop behind him.

Montcourt drops as well.

Bachinger won his R1 of qualies in Rotterdam, and so overtakes Alex, knocking him back to 192  cry.gif

80 points on offer this week, which could carry Alex up to 144 should he win the tournament.

Players who can overtake this weekend
Silva is in Buenos Aires qualifying.

Silva and Lopez lost in Buenos Aires qualifying.

Neither Alex nor Zib, nor Mirnyi his closest threats, are playing on Monday.

Istomin climbs off the table.  Bachinger and Munoz de la Nava lost.


What- if for Tuesday:
Boggo has 215 points and is sitting at 192.

If Alex beats Chardy in Besancon:
he'll have 223 points
he will overtake Dupuis, Ulihrach, Huta Galung, Bogomolov, Udomchoke and Bachinger
He could be overtaken by no-one.

He'll climb to 186.

If Alex loses:
He could be overtaken by:
Mirnyi, who plays Lu in San Jose

Best case, he stays at 192, worst case he'll drop to 193.

It may be 'p***ing about' to you, Rob, but it's serious money to Max; reaching the singles quarter-final (by beating Lu, then Wayne Odesnik - certainly not beyond his capabilities) brings home more prize-money than winning the doubles title!

It's all about motivation: if he's in danger of overtaking Boggo, then we want him to be thinking about the importance of staying fit for the doubles match. Had he been playing a threat to Andy, then he has to be thinking about regaining the top 100 evileye.gif
