L16: (5) James Ward WR 529 beat Guido Pella (ARG) WR 589 by 3 & 3
James joins Ed effectively on 50 ranking points.
QF: (5) James Ward WR 529 v (4) Yohny Romero (VEN) WR 524
Romero is 30 this year and had a career high of 262 in 2006. Like Jamie B's next opponent in Texas, his last match against a Brit was when he beat Amadeus, 3 & 1 in Mexico in this case and the one before that was against Jamie Baker himself back in 2005 in a Venezuelan, when Romero beat him 2 & 3 two weeks in a row!
Romero tends to reach the semis of most of his Futures these days, unfortunately and I think this one will be tougher for James than the 5 place difference in rankings implies, but not impossible. Winning this might get him into the top 500 on 52 points, but more likely he'll need 53 for that.

Yeah, looks like James needs a semi-final win to break into the top-5C, whilst Ed's higher value tournament means a win tomorrow in the quarters gets him there - not that he cares, we now know!
