Only Thornley through (although Brassington has not played yet), and even that was a retirement against a fellow Brit!

Got to say with Wardy's ability the Semis are a realistic target, and with the top seed retiring last week he may not be in the best shape!

Come on Wardy!

James joins Ed effectively on 50 ranking points.

QF: (5) James Ward WR 529 v (4) Yohny Romero (VEN) WR 524

Romero is 30 this year and had a career high of 262 in 2006. Like Jamie B's next opponent in Texas, his last match against a Brit was when he beat Amadeus, 3 & 1 in Mexico in this case and the one before that was against Jamie Baker himself back in 2005 in a Venezuelan, when Romero beat him 2 & 3 two weeks in a row!

Romero tends to reach the semis of most of his Futures these days, unfortunately and I think this one will be tougher for James than the 5 place difference in rankings implies, but not impossible. Winning this might get him into the top 500 on 52 points, but more likely he'll need 53 for that.

Yeah, looks like James needs a semi-final win to break into the top-5C, whilst Ed's higher value tournament means a win tomorrow in the quarters gets him there - not that he cares, we now know!

You da Man! Two emphatic wins against Argentians on clay in Latin America is very unusaul for a Brit.

Pella has been climbing the rankings ultra fast as well!

I think Romero may be easier than Pella.
