Laporte/La Porte beat Kasiri in a Nottingham Future last year before going out to Skupski, but generally he's lost to the Brits most of us have heard of and tended to only beat the ones most of us haven't heard of ... apart from his last win against a Brit, an 0 & 3 thrashing against Amadeus last November, the week before he reached the Final of a US Future, his only singles Final so far.
He does better against the Brits in doubles, and reaches more Finals, including one with Ed Seator in Italy last September.

QF: (2) Jamie Baker WR 268 v (7) Daniel Lustig (CZE) WR 413
Lustig lost to Bloomers in two close sets in Nashville Challenger qualifying last November but is a consistent performer in Futures, having reached 4 Finals (winning one of them) and 4 more semis in the last year. Jamie should certainly have the edge, but it's clearly not going to be as straightforward as Thursday's win.

He's the only other seed left in Jamie's half of the draw, too! Really good to see him salvaging a bit of British pride in the US after the mauling of our two doubles representatives in San Jose!

'Twouldn't surprise me if Sitak didn't have a say in the outcome of Jamie's half of the draw, always assuming JB gets past Lustig. He's knocked out the 3rd seed which is not to be sniffed at. However, I still expect our guy to come up trumps.
Sitak is in good form, having reached a semi and a Final in Portugal already this year. He beat Josh Goodall in two tight sets in Sunderland last November - that was his only match against a Brit in living memory. Sitak beat no. 3 seed Chekhov in R2 (the other three of the top four seeds have all reached the semis) but has been taken to three sets in his last two matches, so hopefully Jamie will be fresher.
(note to self: USTA had this result before ATP/ITF)

I had high hopes of being the first to report the good news when I came on here a short while ago, steven , only to find that you'd beaten to it by just over eight hours, courtesy of the USTA! Their semi will be the first to be played today, at 10.00 local time (16.00 GMT).
