Week 8 - Futures F7 ($10 000) - Spain.

Plenty of Brit interest in the qualifying rounds with Rice (15), Illingworth(13), Cox (7),Milton (16), Evans with G. Goodall and Dee both receiving wildcards. I wonder how many will reach the MD?

Will be interesting to see if Evo can beat Illingworth on clay!

Not being funny, I'd be happy with just the one, given last week's effort.

I guess winner of Tillingworth and Evans have an outside chance - against the number 2 seed in qual round is unlikely.

Cox has a tough ask against Spanish players on Clay too, but has a chance, I guess.

Rice is good for a first round win, but again a tough ask to qualify.

Great to see so many Brits in qualies tho, especially trying their hand on clay.

Come on guys, give us something to cheer!!!

Wasn't James Feaver in Spain last week too?

He's clearly going for the record, there is no other explanation for that kind of performance smile.gif

Great day. 2nd seed who was in Evans' section knocked out as well. Can't see Rice beating the top seed but the others have a good chance of qualifying.

ATP has the following results:

Rice lost 1-6 6-3 6-4 against number one seed.

Evans won 6-1 7-5

Cox lost 3-6 6-1 7-6 (4) so close!!!

Milton lost 6-7 (4) 7-6(11) 6-3 . I guess he must have had a few match points in that second set!!!

So one through - I'm happy with that after last week's NONE!!!!

I think the other three will be qualifying soon based on those results!!!

Go Evans!!!!

Main Draw sees Myles Blake play the number 6 seed Arnaboldi, Spanish.

Levi got a wild card and plays the number 8 seed Fraille, (Spanish).

Evans plays the numbeer 433 ranked Spaniard Olaso.

Sad that Dan Cox lost, Milton must be gutted having got that close! I wonder if Estruch got a shock after the Brit he faced last week was Rob Dee! wink

lol, makes Rob's result seem far less disappointing doesn't it wink.gif

bravo to Evans for winning through, hope he can take the next match and earna point for his efforts. I really do think they should give a point for qualifying for futures, 4 matches to get any reward is just mean in my opinion.

Myles Blake lost 1 & 4 to no. 6 seed Arnaboldi, while Dee/Hutchings lost 0 & 3 in the doubles to end GB interest in Cartagena.

I think we should sticky this thread as a tribute to Rob Dee's fantastic doubles run this week. Does he get a doubles ranking point for that?

I'm afraid he would need another win to get some points - so that's a no then!
