oh dear, game over. chardy served really well and deserved it. alex didnt get a single bp in 3 sets! he even hit a 2nd serve ace whilst serving for the match! hopefully alex can get a decent rest now so he is feeling fresh for his next event.

He didn't really seem to be doing much to make it difficult for Chardy towards the end, either too short or twoo high and Chardy was just picking the balls off with relative ease.

lol I had no clue Gilbert that **** coached Boggo!
No there are not many 200+ players coach sponsored for £1/4m
I guess LTA left some loopholes in the contract so when Andy fell out with Brad they were stuck! At least this way they get something for the money.

Rest?? He hasn't won a match in about 6 months, he should be pretty fresh really. Oh well, at least no matter how bad things get we'll always have plenty of excuses.
The fact is that whilst Alex still does things like this, where he serves double faults at crucial times, ie on break point, and fails to regain concentration at the start of an important 3rd set having lost the second, he will NEVER get to where we want him to be.
Unfortunately, after numerous years at this level, the top 100 looks further away than ever and he looks light years away from banishing those mental problems.

Just for clarification, since Queen's last year, Alex has won 9, lost 22. The last time he played more than 3 matches in a week was April last year!
I know he's done a lot of travelling, but he's not the only one. Chardy himself was playing in South Africa last week!

In fairness to the Bogster (who had me grinding my teeth in frustration too this morning, admittedly), I don't think the Count was talking about number of matches played. Boggo has been criss-crossing the continents and time zones since Xmas (US -> New Cal. -> Aus -> Miami -> Hawaii -> Chile -> Argentina -> Belgrade -> Besancon, totalling 4 continents and 6 inter-continental or inter-continental-length flights in about as many weeks), whereas Chardy has gone New Cal. -> AO -> Heilbronn -> Wroclaw -> Bergamo -> East London -> Besancon, i.e. a lot of travelling, for sure, but no time zone difference of more than an hour or two since he got back from the AO.
Whoever thought that much jetlag would be good for Boggo's tennis should be shot, of course, but it strikes me that it was probably flying to DC and back that was the straw that broke the camel's back.
He was showing signs of having beaten the dreaded 3rd set collapse before he got injured last year, I only hope he can settle down now and find that form again, else you're right, the top 100 light at the end of the tunnel is going to continue to seem very far away.

The problem with Boggo is that has only one gear, one paced. Sure, he strokes the ball around nicely, but in the big points you need to step it up, but Alex just keeps playing the same way. He needs to step up the court and start giving the ball a whack. Sounds basic but that is what he is not doing.
