Thanks for calling (edit:) Rob, excellent result, I didn't think he'd have much trouble today.
He's now got a form of revenge over Numpty (the last player to beat him) too - Almagro ended Numpty's 10-match winning streak (starting with the win against Baker) today, but Jamie has made his 11!

I don't know how soon we'll see him at Challenger level - given that Cardiff and Valencia have both disappeared from the calendar this year, it probably depends on how much he fancies having a go on clay over the next couple of months.

I just sent Jamie a text congratulating him and asking him whats next. My friend was at his semis yesterday and he was down 4-2 a break in the second before he got back on serve to take the second in a breaker. Shows the kid never gives up and is a fighter. Probably the quality I like most in him. If he returns my text, I'll let you guys know.
jamie just replied to my text on where he would be going from here. this was his reply. "mcallen(futures) i think." that is another tourney in south texas. it is about 20 minutes from harlingen(where he just won).
Great news to wake up to this morning. Well done, Jamie B. Very pleased that your hard work and positive attitude are earning such good rewards. Best of luck in this week's tournament.
I agree drew, Jamie really needs to push to challenger level asasp. it will be a tough transition, as there are not really any easy matches (well maybe a few) but you will also run into the of top lvl players as well or get the unkown but rising superstar type player.
If you look at boggo i think he pretty much stoped playing futures at 18 and has never gone back, even when times are rough like recently, whilst Jamie has devleoped differently, i think at the moment in these futures events he is only being properly tested in a few matches across the week. you cant let that go on for too long as it will make the jump tougher, dont want jamie's game to settle at 'good enoug to win a futures' bascily.
plus he could be seriously risking burn out if he carries on. and there are so many more points aviable at challenger lvl.
this is ther last of the usa futures, any ideas where he will go next, if he cant qualify for the masters then maybe he will take a break. Assuming he will win again here then he wont be able to qualify for any challengers next week. There are 3 GB futures coming up the week after so if he doesnt go for any challengers then they would be a good place to pick up more some points
