Well done George.

What is this lad's game like? I mean, is he doing so well mostly because he is so big for his age and can overpower his opponents (an advantage which will decrease in time as they catch up) or does he have a good all-round game that is promising for the future?

Well the fact he is competing with players who are a lot older over the past two weeks is an indication he has a good all-round game as well.

The reason he is doing so well isn't that he is big. Of course, that gives him a better chance, but it is mainly because the fields in these tournaments are terribly weak and most good 15 year olds would do as well as him. In fact, I would go on to say that last week he didn't do as well as he should have but it hardly matters as it was his first tournament and this week he has taken out the second seed.

When Bernard Tomic was playing these tourneys, he won four of them in a row, and he was only 14...

Is George 15 then? I thought he was 14.

Still, the results are great - you can only beat the guy on the other side of the net and he's managing to do that very nicely smile.gif

A long day for George, and unfortunately nothing to show for it.

Doubles
Pigou/Tearney bt Morgan/Jones 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (8)

Singles
Davies bt Morgan 5-7, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (5)

Still, another good showing and I'm quite excited about my fellow Lancastrian.

In this week's Junior Rankings George has risen to 633 but more interestingly he has made the Top 10 in the 93+ age group. George is at No. 10 of the 98guys who have rankings and were born in either '93 or '94.

This group is led by Carlos Boluda-Perkiss of Spain who is already at 147.
