Phew!! I was getting really concerned this morning, it looked like Dee had about as good a chance as ever of a win and that would've thrown away soo much hard work over the years to get to this point.

The week 12 Spanish Future is in Castelldefels, which like Badalona is in the Barcelona area, so it seems likely that Robert will turn up for this one too.
What do you think of the idea of sending him a card c/o the tournament office there and seeing if we can get any response? This seems like as good a time as any to do it.
For example, it could say something like:
"To Robert
We've been following your tennis career from afar and would like to congratulate you on equalling Diego Beltranena's 54-match record for perseverance in tennis in the face of overwhelming odds.
Good luck in your quest to break the record next week, and maybe finally nicking a set to celebrate - you were so close a couple of weeks ago.
From (list of names?) and everyone else (?) at www.britishtennis.net, who would love to know what motivates you to keep on trying"
It needs a bit of work, obviously, but what do you think - fun, or stupid?
If it was sent off on Monday, it ought to arrive by Friday, I think.

Yes Steven, pretty good.. However I would take out the 'and you would probably beat most of us 0 & 0' section. Firstly, it sounds a little too smarmy. Secondly, it is a blatant lie.
Aside from that its not a bad template to start from...
sounds good - I still want to send him the trophy, but not if he's embarrassed by the idea, so this could be a good way of introducing ourselves to him
Yes, it perhaps does sound a little too nice (though I'm sure he'd beat me 0 & 0), I was just trying to find a way to stop it seeming gratuitously nasty! However, given the way I worded the rest of that sentence in the end, adding that bit is probably overdoing it! Changed, anyway.
Rob - this could be a good way of finding out whether he's got a sense of humour, i.e. if he comes on here and says something, he probably has, if not it won't be worth anyone doing anything after he actually breaks the record.
Anyway, I'll try and post this tomorrow so it goes off early on Monday - wording suggestions still gladly accepted until noon tomorrow, and please post here or pm me if you want your name on there, otherwise you'll be lumped in with the 'and many others at britishtennis.net' (I'd better not say all, some of the more serious people here might object!)
