Fascinating stuff, thanks! I can see DJ digging out his racquets and registering for his IPIN as we speak. smile.gif

Delighted to be of service, Steven, even if only as an example. Mine are definitely 'rackets', by the way, and are made of wood - some of you younger ones may find that hard to credit; I'm thinking of donating to a museum.

You're not the only one with wooden racket!

Here's a good table. It's the players with the most double bagels against them (since 2002).

It shown how few double bagels the Deester has actually had in his career (and Amadeus too).

Lownsbrough would have another three double 0's, but retired at 6-0 3-0, 6-0 1-0 & 6-0 2-0.

Top of the table, Sipkovs, has played in Britain 3 times this year. George Coupland double bagelled him in Sunderland in Jan.

Thought I'd look at the opposite - the players who have won the most by double bagel, and Alan Mackin comes out 5th and Morgan Phillips 10th!

Fed & Rafa are rubbish...

Rob featured in the Guardian's "Corrections" section a couple of weeks ago.

"We were wrong to suggest in two articles, based on an agency report, that Robert Dee has not won a professional tennis match in three years. We accept that Robert Dee has a British ranking of 4.2 with the Lawn Tennis Federation and that he regularly wins professional tennis matches in Spain. We apologise to Mr Dee. (Can't lose them all, page 2, Sport, April 26, and Britain's Dee tastes victory at 55th attempt, guardian.co.uk, April 22)"

Talking of which, I hope he hasn't given up on Futures forever.

What happened to Adam Lownsborough has he retired> he used to lose very easily! He once received aranking point for a WC into a Challenger event abroad How did he manage that with so poor a ranking?

I think he retired a couple of years ago. His results made Rob Dee look like Roger Federer in comparison, but it was equally fun following him. smile.gif The WC into the San Remo Challenger is explained in the Times article at http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/tennis/article521350.ece - the second paragraph of http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?xml=/sport/2006/07/09/stdiar09.xml about when he hit with Justine Henin is a good one too. smile.gif

The last I heard, he was a highly-qualified tennis coach - see http://www.findatenniscoach.com/detail.php?siteid=2995

The Dee misreporting scandal rumbles on with libel writs now issued - see http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/jun/11/medialaw.pressandpublishing

I'm a bit amazed it's got to this (I'd much rather he started playing Futures again) but I'm even more amazed that some newspapers refused to simply print apologies when the error of their ways was pointed out to them!

Still, we saw it all coming way back in March:

jazar: i think the times should be alerted of his potential achievement so they can write another article on him

me: Judging by the way they picked up the Count's comment about taking racquets to the LTA to be flown out to Boggo in Argentina (which as far as I know was only every brought up on this board), I doubt there's any need to alert them.

In any case, talking about him on a tennis board is a bit of fun (not least because I think we're reasonably balanced about it as well as having a laugh), but an article in a national newspaper making it sound like he's the worst tennis player in the whole world (as I imagine it would) might be a bit harsh!

wink

Woohoo, after Chris Eaton's win on Tuesday, that's the best news I've heard all week!

I'm so tempted to put him on the top 25 table on a new "famous unranked players" section. LOL
