well alex 'is' serbian by birth so its not too bad, it may have got lost in translation. they did delay his match as well so we'll let it slide.
i dont think there is a crowd at this stage, possibly a behind glass viewing gallery from what i can remember (i have actaully played tennis here!)
i think for the later matches they put up a little grand stand (and televise them). also they have outdoor clay coruts too, its a really nice little centre. i am not sure if it could host a atp event as its not that big, but the way serbian tennis is going they deserve one, maybe it could host a lowest lvl event?

i didnt play at the tournament!!, just at the tennis centre. i was just on holiday in belgrade and the place i was staying was about 5mins from there, its in one of the best parts of the city up on a hill, where all the ambassadors houses are etc, also very near red star football stadium.
just went there for a hit for a while, i was v bad as the surface was not like aything i had played on before. was fun tho.

lol Steven. yeah its not really a hot tourist destiantion, but i ahd a ncie time, and everyone was very friendly towards me, i think maybe cause they dont get many tourists. everything was quite cheap too (from my perspective), really you could travel everywhere by taxi and to ride the tram was about 7p!! bit better than Ken's prices here.
i think we would need trociki to have been kosovan or something to not get the support.
still at least they have some line judges here.

there now a piccy of boggo in the media centre on the tournmanet home page, english version and a nice interview:
The British player Alex Bogdanovic has successfully started this years challenger at the TC Gemax (prize fund of 106.500 euros). He defeated the German Dominik Meffert in the first round, with 6:4, 6:4.
"Im not quite satisfied with my todays performance. My serve was excellent, so I didnt have too many problems in the match against Meffert. I have just returned from the Davis Cup in Argentina and Im still tired. We had been playing outside, on the clay, and now Im here, in the hall and on the fast surface, so I have not been thinking about the final rank on the Tournament. Now Im focused on the next match, which I will be playing against Troicki (SER) or Kim (USA)" said Bogdanovic, who had already played against the American, but has never met the Serbian player in an official match.
Alex was playing the Semi-Finals at Gemax three years ago. "Its so nice to be here again, at Gemax, in Belgrade. I have a lot of friends here, many supporters. I feel comfortable and its a wonderful experience to play here, it's a real enjoyment."
Bogdanovic hasnt been in London since November. For the season of 2008 he had prepared in Florida. After the USA he travelled to Australia, where he took a part in the Qualifying for the first Grand Slam in this season. Before he arrived in Serbia, he played for the Davis Cup team of Great Britain against Argentina. Next week Bogdanovic will be playing a challenger in France. That will be the first time he will be working with his new coach, Brad Gilbert.
"We are starting next week. Brad and I will be working together 20 weeks during the season. The British Tennis Association has a contract with Gilbert, they cover all the expenses, and I believe that the cooperation will be successful and that the work with Brad will bring me some good results. Last year I had a good start of the season I climbed to the 108th place on the ATP list after my good performance at the Queens Tournament in London. Soon after the Wimbledon, I had a back injury which cost me the other part of the season and the fall on the ATP list. My this years goal is to enter the worlds top 100, but the most important thing is my health."
Serbia and Great Britain are potential rivals in the Davis Cup play-off for filling up the World Group. "If the Draw decides that we really should meet in September, I think that it is going to be a very difficult match. Serbia has an excellent team Nole is playing unbelievably, Janko and Zimonji continue with their good performance, Troicki is getting better and better...I think that no one from the British team would like to have Serbia for opponent" said Bogdanovic.

it was just quick, i hadnt played on anything like that before, and i was a biut rusty anyway, plus using a dodgy old racquet :)
i think the problem is my 'interviews' are emailed questions so alex just emails back a few word answers, i then have to use some editiorial licence to flesh them out a bit. when i speak to him its differrnt but i cant exaclty tape recored the conversations :)
i also made a mistake, the grand stand is already built, i saw a pic from the troicki match and it was packed. so i guess it will be for alex/victor tonight. victor admited he got a bit nervous with the expectation, so hopefully he will again.
