Well done to Alex, that's a really impressive win biggrin - I mean, a year ago, we'd have expected him to beat Meffert easily, but the German is now higher-ranked and was a clear favourite to win the match with the bookies (Alex was at 2.50), and after the long flight back from Argentina, a straight sets win is really well done. Gets Alex back into the top 200 after only one week outside too. smile

I don't fancy his chances against Troicki, if that's who he plays, unless Troicki's DC heroics start catching up with him, but whatever happens in R2, this is a good start to Alex's campaign to get his ranking back up to where it should be.

Great win for Alex, hope it is the first of many in what is a very difficult event.

woohoo a nice solid win. A small hicup in serving out the first set but he held in. Thank you very much for the commentary Count much appreciated.

Good luck to Alex against Troicki(assuming it's him), Alex CAN beat him, it's whether he believes he can or not that is the important thing.

Troicki had set points to win the 1st set 6-4 but Kim held on, broke and served out to take it 7-5. Just starting the 2nd.

looks like the serbs want to reclaim alex, they dont need him they have loads of players!

The Serbian players are playing even five of today's six matches on the Main Court. The first to go out on the court is Alex Bogdanovic, who will confront Meffert (GER).

i emailed the web guy to check i am allowed to use their photos on ab.com, he said ok (thought he would but its better to ask eh) and he said they hope to have an interview published with alex later.

That's quite bad, claiming Alex for themselves. Still, if that means the crowd gets behind him, it might not be a bad thing. I'm sure they won't when he plays Troicki though!
