For the record, it's Jeremy Blandin that Bammy faces. I was in shock a little when you said Chardy, ranked 807. Chardy is ranked around 200, for a second I thought that maybe he was on a comeback from injury and Bammy had pulled a major short straw
Oops, sorry, you're quite right! Far too many French Jeremies, fine old French name that it is...
A win in his second round match against a French qualifier should net Miles a top 500 spot; Miles would be the second British player to breach that barrier in a short space of time, Alex Slabinski having done so just before Christmas.
Surprising result. Obviously elated for Miles [Top 500 surely beckons soon].. But another strange result from Goodall, he just doesn't seem able to find any sort of positive consistent form.
No slips from Miles hopefully! He'll be GB's 7th active top 500 player.. [Although interestingly Henman moved up one spot last Monday.. Has he played a sneaky Futures that we've missed!?]

Goodall is a massively wasted talent!!!
On current form he'll be lucky to see a year end ranking inside the top 700
On the other hand a good result for Miles, he needs to push on abit and get more results against the higher ranked players now, he seems to get creamed whenever he faces any tough opposition (anyone inside the top 400) so may this week see a change?
Well doen Miles! Bammy's main draw result bit of a disappointment.
Slabba won 7-6(5) 6-3
I think Josh will be back to his best soon!
It won't be before time. What is wrong with him? I'm pleased for Miles but it seems to be a very strange result. Go Slabba.
I, too, would love to know the answer to that one. He was going so well in the middle of last year...
Miles (507) must stand a chance of progressing to the QFs. He faces one or other of two French qualifiers in Round 2, Maxime Quinqueneau, who's unranked, or Mathieu Rodrigues, ranked 716th! Interesting developments in the bottom half of the draw (Slabba's), too: the third seed, Adam Feeney (AUS), has joined Josh on the Bressuire scrap heap, beaten 7-6(5) 6-1 by the French qualifier, Kenny de Schepper ( - another fine old French name...) (1488)
Alex had to grind it out today, needed to dig deep to win 1st set, saved 3 set points and was then 5-3 down in the tiebreak with Rufin serving. He serve-volleyed, and missed a fairly easy high volley and Alex was able to come through and nick it. Alex said "I was lucky to get away with it today, was a break down in the 2nd too. Didn't have the best of playing days but got through it somehow. Conditions are strange here, its the balls, tough to control."
he saw Kasiri....said that was a strange match but Miles just didn't miss and Goodall didn't play his best

And 'twill be Rodrigues, who saw off Quinqueneau with a bit of a struggle, 3-6 6-3 6-0...
No sign of the Bamfs/Goody doubles result yet, so far as I can see...
