Week 5 - Futures F3 [10k] : Tipton, Great Britain

Tournament Key : M-FU-GBR-03A-2008
Dates : 28 Jan to 03 Feb 2008
Venue : Tipton, Great Britain
Surface : Hard

Top Seed:  Nicolas Tourte [FRA] [Rank:408]

British main draw entrants are Skupski and Flanagan.

Possible alternates are Bamford and Irwin. Other alternates that are likely to have to qualify/recieve a wildcard are Smith, Brewer, Bains, Allison, Illingworth, Rice, Thornley, Miotto, Milton, Brassington, Sagoo, and Fitzpatrick.

Quietly dissapointed that there appears to be no Starakiewicz this week.

Or could he [Starakiewicz ]still be in the qualifying draw? -- Are all the entrants for qualifying listed as 'Alternates'?

Seeing as the Polish dude has not yet got a ranking yet [will come on tommorow], he can't actually enter, he will just turn up and sign in.

Ah rite.. So as long as you have an IPIN you can turn up and sign into qualifying..

Hopefully he will turn up then.

Horrible set of results apart from Thornley, that's two seeded Brits Cauvard has taken out as well.

Main draw now out and, oh no ...

Skupski gets no. 1 seed Tourte
(Q) Illingworth gets no. 7 seed Wiesler
Flan gets (Q) Cauvard the Brit-killer
(WC) Evans gets no. 5 seed Charroin

... so the Brits who had seemed most likely to score points now seem likely not to. cry

Looking on the bright side ...

Bamford gets the Argentine Alberti
(Q) Thornley gets fellow qualifier Reix
(WC) Coupland gets Kunnap
WCs Knights and Smethurst get each other, so one of them will get their first ranking point

Some bad news tempered by some good news then.

If Flan has a good day he should be able to win. and You never know, Skupski might surprise us please.gif Likewise with Evans and Illingworth...

Bad draw for Skupski; real shame as a couple of good draws would hopefully lead to him pushing for a Top500 spot...

Hopefully one of the younger British WCs will show everyone what they're capable of and win a round or two..

[Polish news: Bad draw for Starakiewicz.]
