Ecuador's Nicolás Lapentti and Great Britain's Jamie Murray made their partnership debut on Tuesday in Viña del Mar by ousting second-seeded duo, Pablo Cuevas and Martín García, 6-3, 6-7(4), 11-9. The 31-year-old Lapentti is a two-time doubles finalist at the Movistar Open, finishing as runner-up with Spaniard Julian Alonso in 1997 and with Argentine Martín Rodriguez in 2004. Murray, 10 years Lapentti's junior, is playing for the first time in Viña del Mar.
Cuevas and García, also making their first appearance as a tandem, became the third seeded duo to falter in their first round match at the Movistar Open. Top seeds, Marcelo Melo and André Sá, and No. 3 seeds, Marcel Granollers-Pujol and Santiago Ventura, lost their openers on Monday.

The doubles match between Oscar Hernández and Sergio Roitman and Juan Pablo Brzezicki and Ross Hutchins was suspended due to darkness after the duos split the first two sets in tie-breaks and was scheduled to resume Wednesday afternoon.
* So, 40 points in the bag for Jamie M for reaching the QFs... By the end of today we'll know whom they face in their QF, Peter Luczak & Boris Pashanski (AUS/SRB) or Fabio Fognini/Diego Hartfield (ITA/ARG - yet another!). Here's hoping Ross & JP can get past Hernández & Roitman & join them there...
Ross and Mr B-however-you-pronounce-it are on the scoreboard now.
I could hazard a guess on the basis of my admittedly very limited knowledge of Polish pronunciation, but I'm b*ggered if I could find a way of representing it in print! Why d'you think I resorted to referring to him as "JPB" in my posts last night? Much easier to type, too!
Is it just my computer, or does the LS keep disappearing without being updated?
