Oh dear. Beaten by an Argentinian who isn't considered nearly good enough to play Davis Cup. . .

But then I was never expecting to win the DC tie!

Jamie Murray and partner Nicolas Lapentti are at the moment playing the second seeds, Cuevas and Garcia. They won the first set 6-3 and are at present playing a tiebreak in the second. . .

They lost the second set tiebreak, now going into one of these Champions tiebreaks or match tiebreaks or whatever they call 'em - I'll get the hang of these new doubles scoring rules one of these days. . .

And Hutch & Juan Pablo Brzezicki served for the match against Oscar Hernández & Sergio Roitman (ESP/ARG) at 7-6(6) 6-5, but proceeded to drop service & lose the tie-break 2-7, so it's now gone to a match tie-break...! cry  At least he's getting some practice on clay, too! wink

Edited in at 23.55:  This is a new one in tennis!  Match suspended before the MTB got under way because of "darkness", so in cricketing terms, blsp!  Jamie's match still going, however... eyepopping.gif

Match tie-breaks!  They can hardly be champions' tie-breaks in the first round! wink

Hutch's match has been suspended for bad light.

I hadn't realised Hutch got into the draw, is that as a LL or was I being blind again?

That'll be really tough to come out and play a MTB straight off the bat, what a silly time to stop play. Though I suppose if you can't see the ball anymore then it's a fair enough reason. And it does happen, for example when Wimbers is trying desperately to catch up after a week of rain, they stop about 9:30pm at the latest I think.

Great result, and one I really wasnt expecting. Hopefully that instills a bit of confidence in Murray - which, lets face it, is what they're in need of for the DC (unless any of you can magic them all clay playing abilities and none for the Argentinians)!

I'm going to try sending Nalby a large consignment of doughnuts just before the match. That might help.

I doubt anybody was expecting it! biggrin  And the win should give him a bit of a confidence-booster:  those were the second seeds they dumped out! clap.gif  It also means that there's only one seeded pair left in the competition now, the Argentines, Acasuso & Prieto (4), as Melo & Sa (1) & Granollers-Pujol/Ventura (3) lost on Monday! wink  If Ross & JPB could only follow suit, which in theory, as the more highly ranked pair, they should, when the match resumes, it'll be the perfect start to Team GB's acclimatisation in advance of the DC... pray.gif
