Another good week for Delgado. Surely another rise up the rankings.
It should make some difference, DD, but I think he & Müller are going to have to win the damn' thing to make any real headway! He's currently on 421 points & ranked 130th (Müller 261 & 221st!) & of the doubles players in Heilbronn ranked more highly and/or still in the competition, Cerretani's just above him with 422, Smit 425 (127), Briaud 433 (125), van H also 433 (124), Motti 436 (123), Polasek 436 (112), Reynolds 676 (84), de Voest 731 (78), Qureshi 688 (81) & Kunitsyn 827 (70)! He & Müller currently have a minimum of 19 points for reaching the QF, but would pick up 17 more for beating Kunitsyn & Qureshi ( ) (36), 35 for reaching the final (56) & 61 for winning the title (80)! Even the latter would merely close the gap a little on the next highest ranked Brit, Ross Hutchins (610 points & 98th) & who will pick up 19 points for reaching the QFs... I've not looked at the positions between him & the players currently on 477 & 501 points & done a what if, so I've no idea how things could really end up!
If, by some miracle, Delgo & Müller make it to the final on Sunday, their opponents will be the second seeds, Rik de Voest & Bobby Reynolds (RSA/USA), who have just beaten Cerretani & Polasek 7-5 7-6(7)! See my previous post for their relative rankings...!
Edited in at 22.00: Just found tomorrow's OoP on the ATP site & Delgo's & Müller's SF match with Kunitsyn & Qureshi will take place no earlier than 17.00 GMT.
I'm afraid the maths is even less optimistic than you suggest, Stircrazy. Delgo has now collected 36 points for his German exploits (reaching the semis), but his 'house' was already full, i.e. 14 counting events. The new 36 points are added, but the previous low of 12 drops off, so a net gain of 24 only, to date. I'm not smart enough for 'what-if', but if no-one around him moves up or down, Jamie would rise to 119, a gain of 11 places - not to be sniffed at!
