Im a newbie to writing on this board, have been reading it for a while though. I'd just like to comment on my day at Wrexham today, firstly i'd like to say how much I enjoyed wathing all the girls compte..... I watched alot of the Smith vs. Broady match and what a match it was with both girls giving it their all, Broady's serve was very impressive and i think that that was the difference betweed the two players...... Elliott vs. Matic was also a classy afair and Amanda showed some great flare and played some really impressive tennis. I also saw all of Scarfi vs. Davato, Scarfi battled hard and fought her way out of some tricky situations, on reading a former post about Scarfi's performance in Sunderland i have to agree, wherever her opponent hit a good shot she always applauded them and played the maych in good spirits she is a bit of a looker too and when she came off court i said well done to her she was very polite and said "thank you very much and thanks for your support" in a very sweet Welsh accent! Finally i'd like to say i was really impressed with the standard of tennis shown today and it has opened my eyes to how tough it is for all these players, slogging it out day after day on the itf circut, if there is any British interest in the tourmanent towards the end of the week.
Irene Rehberger-Bescos (Spa) bt Alexandra Walker (Gbr) 7-6 (7-3) 6-2
Naomi Broady (Gbr) bt Anna Smith (Gbr) 3-6 7-6 (7-2) 6-4,
Walker served for the first set at 5-4 but got broken back, before being soundly beaten in the tie-breaker - and then there was only one player in it.
The Broady match was hard fought from what I saw - the third set only - from the back of the court. The first one was, I hadn't realised they'd played twice according to wolf's list
My shift on the Windley-Khan match ended at 5-0 in the first set. It looked like it could well have been a much bigger margin of victory.
Elliott nearly messed up serving for the first set as she faced break point at 5-4 up, but retrieved it then was in control from thereon in.
And I was surprised that Savic lost. Both players certainly liked going for the lines, which kept me on my toes, especially calling through the net!!
One result that's not on there is Laura Haberkorn beating Katerina Kramperova 6-2 6-4. Another one that could well have been a bigger winning margin. It was 4-1 in the first.
